Re: Batteries from the factory..
Going into my 3rd season in saltwater averaging 75-100 hours per season with the under 700 CCA battery's factory installed with 496HO's. No corrosion whatsoever on the parts you mentioned above. I do have the common surface corrosion happening on the pulleys etc. on the motors from the moisture they'ere always subjected to.
I did change out anodes this spring and felt they went rather quick. I also felt like they were exceptionally light in weight much like aluminum anodes would be which are for freshwater applications and disappear quick in salt which needs heavier zinc anodes. Other than that nothing out of the norm.
Now what I do have battery related is on my port motor the battery cable to the starter is loose and needs to be tightened. Right now intermittent ignition is making it a pain in the azz. To get to ti it looks like I have to remove the starboard riser on the port engine, and the port riser on the starboard engine for space. Unless someone knows of a trick? If not then might as well take out those turbolattors as well, huh?

Re: Batteries from the factory..
I noticed on my buddy's boat that there is an in line fuse located about 12" up on the mercat power wire that comes off the power wire connected to the starter. His fuse was blown!! I plan on checking that as well.
