Soon the Merc NXT-1 will be an option to buy without the 700 Merc HP. This drive will handle 900 HP. Also the Y2K is a lite boat, the merc will be fine.

I went on FROOGLE and purchased my stereo equipment and GPS and shipped to JC. Worked out great and saved $$$ too. Just tell JC where to put it. I put a small porthole type window under the pass side cabin/cockpit bulkhead. Came out great. Good for natural light when the cabin door/steps are closed for privacy. I have slept below with the door open, porthole open and even the drop-down access panel open behind the helm for ventilation and it still can get stuffy/stagnent down there on a hot muggy night. a fan of some sort would help. An amazing amount of room below...

As Oh Zone said,I would definately have the port hole vent put in the bulkhead. Also I can add wires for future fans, like I did on Coens Y2K. Also Oh Zone has the forward storage compartments, which are very nice.
If you have Coen mount the battery switch in the engine compartment, the storage compartment under the rear seat can be used for a HUGE cooler.

FX10, thanks for the inputs- I'm compiling a list of "how I wants" which is basically what most people have done before. I do need enough storage for the required pile of life jackets, folding anchor, lines, safety stuff, sun-umbrella, etc.

I don't know if the boat comes with tab/drive indicators- I'd want those. With a flush mount Garmin GPS, I wouldn't need a speedo though- just tach, eng instruments, fuel, and depth. Should be enough room in the dash for that. Could also go with a GPS sounder and get depth from that- one less instrument to rig.

I'm really looking forward to planning this out. Although it a little difficult while halfway across the world- I'm in Jordan right now!

Nice interior shots Oh-zone- I followed the thread with your entire build. I'm thinking about doing either the same type color scheme as you but in Navy blue, or all white, black canopies and blue waterline and center racing stripe. Too many decisions.

Luckily I have a few months to figure this all out before I can place an order. Keep the ideas/photos/etc flowing.

I think I remember reading in Powerboat that the Konrad ACE package is about 25K.

VS the Merc stuff:
A Bravo XR and HP gimble is about 11K + 3K for twin external stearing rams.
The ITS XR package is around 16K.

So the Konrad is some 10K more that a Merc XR setup. BUT it will handle at least 200HP more...

The forward locker on the nose is plenty large for jackets. noodles and stuff.. THe storage beneath the v-pad is plenty large for anchor, lines and such. I opted for the 2 watertight approx 6x10 hatches on either side of the anchor locker for flares and hidden storage whhich could also store lines.

That is a big number pat.
The regular 540 is about $12k(+tranny) from what i've read on the board.

Is 3000 all JC charges for full hydraulic w/ dual rams? I thought it was more like 4-5000, but no difference.

I don't know what JC charges for twin ram full hydraulic steering with the helm installed, but 5k sounds reasonable to me.
I was only comparing the $$ for parts. Steering rams with hardware are about $1500 each.
You would need to buy the helm separate for a Konrad ACE too.

OH-Zone your boat is well thought out!
Nice Job...
