Question v10 Excursion duals

Will dualing out the v10 in my Excursion:
1) improve gas mileage?
2) tow 6800# C.C. plus triple axle trailer more easily?
3) What size pipes and type mufflers needed.
Converter back..correct?

Re: v10 Excursion duals

most well designed systems anymore are singles and most of them will make more HP and increase mileage if you can keep your foot out of it...

Big beatdown pontoon boat. Bring your own fenders.
Re: v10 Excursion duals

Anything you do to help an engine breathe will help it make more power up to a point. Better gas mileage? That's hard to say as there are all kinds of variables that play into that. I know mine always goes down because I like hearing the new throaty sound with the new exhaust.

If you're just going to run it from the converter back and split it to duals, you probably won't realize that much of a gain because most of the restriction happens in the clunky cast iron exhaust manifolds and the small cross over pipes. If you want to do it and gain the most, I'd look at doing the whole shooting match, that is, headers, and dedicated pipes for each bank that run all the way back, without the crossover. Also, I'd look at some high flow cats at well.

Just my $.02.

not sure if this applies to the EX. but in ford pickups the dually gear ratio is 4.10 so if you put a dully on the back your gears will slow you down.. so then you would actually use more fuel to obtain the same speed you would with the stock differential.

?????????????

I think they are talking about dual exhaust!

But be careful on buying a dually truck. I prefer the 4:10 rear end. I noticed a lot on the dealership lot with the 3:73. What the sticker close so you don't buy thwrong one!

Save your money for a Hypertech programmer & air intake. I did this and improved the power on my 2000 Yukon XL for towing.

The Ford V10 just sucks gas period. The Hypertech will make you more power. 6800 lbs. is nothing for the V10, it will pull better w/ the Hypertech.
