22 to outboard
can anyone give me some advise on converting my 22 i/o to outboard as in what bracket set back length of mid i have an 18" bracket from a 22 chriscraft stinger everyone is saying to much setback it will not be user friendly at cruise or in the rough my transom is 32 inches from the rubrail to the bottom not including the pad i am thinking if i use a hydro jack plate i will need a 30" mid to be able to tilt my motor for trailering
Thanks

Let's start by saying call Steve or Kenny. That being said, with a 20" mid section motor you won't need much tilt if its on a jack plate. to answer the question on how much set back we'll need to know the motor weight. I don't think any more that 8" is needed for performance sake. I had a V8 Johnson on a 6" bob's plate which nice balance.....it would have been perfect with a 2.5 merc.
