Splashed the 260 this last weekend
I finally got the 260 in thwe water this weekend. Ran great! Went to Gilligans and toured around the river a bit. Had a few issues outside that that need to be addressed though. Need a new power steering actuator (mine puked steering fluid ALL over the bilge) and the rotor assembly in the trim sending unit had the teeth sheared off.. ? Strange one. Have new parts for all on order.
The gauges all proved out good and the GPS speedo is working as designed. New stereo rocks!
I ran the prop I got back from BD. I was disappointed. Top speed was only 64-65 MPH at 5000+ RPM. I was at 40MPH at 3500 RPM. That prop came back from BD with a 24p and was 14.75 inches in diamter. I think the previous owner had it cut down in pitch and diameter in order to tow skiers and for watersports. Irregardless, I am trying to get in touch with Brett at BBlades to get a new prop. Hopefully that will get me back in the mid-70s. Kenny H told me I should be able to almost see 80 with my engine with a properly labbed 28p Bravo 1 prop, 1/4 tank gas and one person on board, but I am not going for top speed.
Any suggestions on props (based on what I said above)?
Thanks!

I guess you are now hitting your rev limiter? I'd go up one pitch size first as I think 28" Bravo would be a bit steep for every day. I'd also try a 24" Hydro Q4 also which is about the same as a 26" Bravo since Bravo overstates pitch.

The prop currently on the boat that I am referring to as a 24P is a 26P Bravo that was tweaked by the last owner. I said in my first post that it is a 24P, but it is a 26P that was retouched to a 24P between the last owner and BD Props. The Prop Scan came back saying all 4 blades were 24P. You can not feel even the slightest cup at all either.
Going to try a new Bravo 26P. The adding of the cup and 1.3 inches of pitch should give me a better daily use prop.

But what is your hole shot like, and how many people can you have onboard and still pull decently out of the hole? Looking for best all-around daily-use prop. So far it seems to be the 26P Bravo I. The 28P that Velocity puts on them from the factory are labbed. I do not want to go that route. Anyone have a Hydro on theirs?

i have a stock hydro 27p 4 blade on my 260 with a 500efi. best of 78 gps in fresh water, i do like how the prop planes of fast and handles well. I am going to look for a bravo 28p to try just to see, the only other props i have had on it were a mirage 27p 3 blade and a hydro 28p 5 blade. The 3 blade had to mutch slip and was a litle harder to get on plane, the 5 blade was nice but i think its a big part of my drive blowing up.
