Svl ?

Could an activator be competitive in SVL what speeds do these run with a 525 at what weight. could one be built for SVL and keep up with a Phantom or Extreme?

masher44 10-05-2007 11:23 PM

I wonder the same. I think the new 30 is running 86-88 with 525/IMCO and a cabin with all the goodies. I would say yes. Without all the extras it should run in low 90s and handle the water much better.

POOL WHORE 10-06-2007 07:49 AM

I remember Doc's little canopy Activator, High Noon Racing being up in the front of the pack, battling for the lead with Extreme. In 2003, the Legouri's were runner ups to Mikilos and Decuices in SVL and were very exciting to watch.

Stormrider 10-06-2007 08:19 AM

extreme w/ 496 runs 82-83

Bilgerat 10-06-2007 04:47 PM

what would the weight be on the above mentioned boats i think SVL has to pull out at 4800.

THEJOKER 10-06-2007 07:16 PM

Nothing against Activator but don't try and put a round plug in a square hole. Buy a Phantom or Extreme if you want to be competitive. There are plenty for sale I'm sure.

Your kiding right???......

THEJOKER 10-06-2007 09:16 PM

No I'm not kidding. The world speed and race records speak for themselves.

Bilgerat 10-06-2007 10:18 PM

but wouldn't it be more fun to beat the extreme or phantom in something new that hasn't been done. The Bottoms on these boats are not rocket science. and there should be other manufacturers that can keep up, they all have the same power and weight, So it;s hull and aero dynamics that get er done. Handling is also critical but what about a Sunsation, Activator or a few others that are allready out there just need some tweaking and a canopy. What kind of boat was WHM mini me isnt that an activator 27?

Don't let Will Smith and Mark Spates hear you say that. Sure you can go after " the under dog" title but you're hundreds of hours behind in testing , etc.

I am sure the phantoms and extremes are a killer pleasure set up... oh wait no one has one

I can round up a 30 Activator full pleasure w 525 and you round up a full race phantom and run the LI Sound and see who gets the business.

yup... Kunzler and it has a canopy... along with a couple others

BJM 10-11-2007 11:08 PM

30 Activator would not be fast enough to run SVL. 30 Activator runs 86 with a 525. The phantom/Extremes run 92-93. In rough water the Activator would be ok.
The high noon boat could never come close to the extreme boat when they use to race in 2001-2002.

z.zuperboat 10-12-2007 05:48 AM

Has a 30 been built to be an all out race boat yet ? Dont think so . All pleasure versions and all very fast for the weight of the boat. Mark and Skip together could put one in the winner circle if they wanted too !!!

NP

86 with a full cabin and pleasure set up.... take out 1500 pounds of crap and create comforts and it will run with anything in the flat and own the rough

Stormrider 10-12-2007 12:19 PM

LOL.... creature comforts in a 30 activator!!!

I meant like a backseat :ernaehrung004:

Stormrider 10-12-2007 03:06 PM

i think the 30 is 29+ w/ the platform, so its shorter than phantom/extremes.

All i know is the extreme in pleasure setup... 'finished' cabin and rear bench seat ran 82-83 w/a 496mag ho. An activator wont.
Oh, and coulda been bought for the 80s too a few yrs ago.

Activator SVL

MANITIE 12-14-2007 03:45 PM

It would be interesting to see what a 30 Activator would run in SVL....the other thing you can do in SVL is put on a ext-box...plus less wind drag with the canopy....the WHM svl was never a very fast boat.....it would be interesting if a 30 would be built for SVL and layed up to be raced in that class....with all the lake racing they do....I think it would still run good....but in the big stuff....I think it would be up front....

The final word frm someone who knows (been there and done that) WTF he is talking about. Good to hear you chime in.

Heard you dusted my father this past summer. You know he would turn around for you once he saw you, but he knew the outcome before he made the turn. Thanks for running him, that what he likes to do. Me too!

KN 12-20-2007 01:50 PM

I was at the SBI race in New York in either 98 or 99 and I thought there was a 30' Activator that was around 6' wide and had an in line tandom canopy. Am I mistaken? I'm also wonder why Fountain has never taken there 32' put two big steps on it, build a race deck and competed in SVL.

MANITIE 12-29-2007 09:53 AM

I wounder if they cut down a 30 activator and put a lid on like the Laveycraft, if its capible of 90 to 92 mph....
Seeing how the Phantoms and extremes run, they like to chine walk a lot....the 27 even in 3 to 4 footers ran great with very little chine walking....if a 30 can run 86....I'm sure with a extension box and a lid for better areodynamics and a little weight taken off...its should be at 90+.....

KN,

I believe the boat you were refering to was actually the old BRONX BANDIT. It is a 32' Activator built for the old A-class where many of the SVL boats today have come from. Last I heard the hull and deck were in Jersey. I saw the boat not to long ago.

heater63 03-13-2008 03:46 PM

Well I guess were gonna find out what that 27 is capable of.Were running it this year in OSS svl.Not saying I will win any races but I sure will give it hell and have a ball doing it.Watch for the Adrenalin Rush 27 Activator.I hope to see you OPA guys a couple of times this year too!I would love to hear from the owners of Activator boats.

denbo 03-13-2008 08:20 PM

Heater, good luck with the activator.I was the crew man for the
Legouri's when they owned the boat. Had great times with them
and the people we raced with.
Denny, PS, pray for rough water!

heater63 03-13-2008 09:32 PM

Hey any advice or help with it would be much appreciated.I think were gonna have our hands full

mrv8outboard 03-13-2008 09:46 PM

i had a good run in that boat at the APBA worlds in Orange Beach Alabama the first two races with Eric.We were in front of Steve ad Gary until we took the long way around on the last lap of race two. We took second on both day's.

I'm going to be on the throttles with Heater in the drivers seat. Here some updated shots of the "old" WHM now transformed into SVL 55 Adrenaline Rush.

BTW: It may not have been up front before because of the condition of....well let's just say everything, so I don't miss anything. Lots of time, money, and hard work to get it to this point..

Dave

masher44 03-15-2008 11:04 PM

looking great! give 'em hell!

MANITIE 03-16-2008 01:10 PM

The 27 Activator is a great boat.....I have not seen the OSS schedule...but the boat will run up front in some big seas....
I thing that was the disadvantage of the boat over the last 3 years....there have been a lot of lake races....that boat will eat them up in the 3 to 5 footers......you should call Mark K. up and get as much info that you can on the 27....since he has had the most succsess with it....

Good luck.....

denbo 03-16-2008 07:16 PM

The boat looks great!
Denny

stecz20 03-16-2008 09:07 PM

that 27 looks like fun, i want one......

heater63 03-16-2008 09:34 PM

hey stecz20 show me the money! To the best of my knowledge its the only canopied 27 out there.Who is Mark K.? A few success stories would be nice about now.And we'll take all the help we can get.Does anyone know who I can get the (manufactures certificate of origin) from.I need to get a title for this boat so it can be registered.Where we will be testing the coast gaurd is not very friendly. They know my name and address by heart.

POOL WHORE 03-16-2008 10:24 PM

Mark K. = Mark Kowalski. He and Gino Marrone had much success with the little 27 Red Devil/Winnebego F1 version in the '02 and '03 season.

Doc Legouri and his son ran the canopied version (your boat) those two seasons, as well. Great battles were fought with the black Typhoon boat usually trading places throughout the race. The boat ran strong in the Atlantic and Gulf races. The lake series was more conducive to the Extremes and Phantoms.

Good luck with the upcoming season. I will be pulling for you guys and be safe.

Hugh

heater63 03-30-2008 10:35 PM

to answer alot of your questions.Adrenaline Rush 27 activator ran 89.1 with flat water and weighing 4755lbs with 45gallons of gas.it is also less than 27ft,closer to 26 and has a 6ft 6in beam.that speed was reached with about 5 gallons of gas.so its dry weight is about 4500lbs and has never broke 90 yet.its 24deg deadrise is what give its big water capabilities over the phantom and extremes 21 deg (so im told) I'm yet to find out. I'll let you know after Biloxi

MANITIE 03-31-2008 08:32 AM

Heater.....keep working on her....you will find that when you go to Biloxi....the water temp is going to be 20+ degree's warmer and the air temp will also be 30 degree's higher...
If you can get her to run 89 to 90 down south..you will be in the game...the Activator dose not chine walk like the Phantom and Extreme dose....plus the Activator can turn on a rail....

Good luck with her...
