New ride....27 Activator

Picked up this 27 Activator with twin ob's. I've been wanting to try ob's for awhile now. I got it from Randy (rtaylor) here on OSO. Went down to FL to pick it up and had a nice blast out of one of the inlets on the local waters. What a great ride...boat handled the rough water great...badass boats in the rough! Thanks Randy. I don't have any good pictures yet...just a couple quick phone pics. Interior is already out and new high back buckets for the front are ordered. I'll post some better pics soon.

congratulstions! Always wanted to try one of those. I have been become a big OB fan too. They are quiet, easy and great acceleration! Good luck w/ it!

jdub 04-24-2012 09:21 PM

Thanks. Yeah I think I'm actually gonna enjoy changing the plugs on these. There actually a little noisy with the offshore mids though....can't quite give up all the noise yet...lol.

That looks like fun! Congrats.

Congrats, my yard looks empty without it here. Had some great runs on that boat. The inlet Randy took you out of was the st johns river. I remember one day we were going out and there was a coast guard cutter coming in and the swells were 8' plus. There was about 15 guys standing on the rail watching us and the look on there face was were going to be rescuing these guys soon. I came back with a back ache, soaked, and a giant smile on my face. That boat loves the waves. Congrats again.

I really miss that boat. Good luck with it John, and post frequent pics of whatever you do with that boat.

Nice ride! Always liked the look of Activator, and eggbeaters should make for some easy fun.

Nice Boat!!! I think I was there when it was rigged. Mark only made a couple step bottoms with outboards, so you are lucky to find one.

jdub 04-25-2012 08:16 PM

Thanks guys...75 is about it. Need to test some props and setup. It's spinning 26 Hydro's right now. I think this was the first stepped ob hull but I'm not 100% on that...anybody know how many stepped ob's are out there?

Activator 27

Welcome to the family! Great boats - with the weight distribution further aft does she still fly straight like the I/o setups?

Thanks.....Being this was my first experience with a twin ob hull like this I was a bit skeptical about the CG of the boat too. But after the sea trial run we went on all doubt was laid to rest...this boat flies straight and eats up the rough!

Philm 04-26-2012 01:33 AM

I like it John, hope you are out more this year than last...

Yeah I can't wait to get some seat time. How you like yours so far?....looks good by the way.

Out There 04-26-2012 08:49 PM

Spent very little time in it. Test ride and two quick trips when I got it home last fall. Working through misc minor mechanical issues. Water temp, pressure, trailer lighting, prop etc.
First impression is very good. Very different than any previous boats. Definitely a hot rod!

rtaylor 06-27-2012 10:05 PM

I'm crying in my beer man. Boat looks awesome!! Glad you liked the ride. Will take a little getting used to. (Sorry I didn't get to the DMV, we've had terrible weather here for the past week).

Haha.... Thanks Bruce you did a good job! I want to try some props out now. The 26 Hydro's work good but can you remember what else you tried?

JERSEY DEVIL 06-29-2012 10:01 AM

yes tried some bravos 4 blade s not the same ride bow got light i think they were 26s the hydros i cut them a 1/4 inch in diameter for more rpms those motors run 6450. i had some other props all 4 blades but did not work well looking backi should of left the props stock and just raised the motors 1 notch but motors were running hot at times with the 2 hole cle lowers . with a step bottom the boat needs no bow lift the hydros keep it straight and the responce is on the money i had it at 75.6 on gps as it sits. very cool and dry weather, a set off 225 pro maxs os it what the boat needs with the same set up you could try some 3 blades , it will losen the boat up though the set up it great for rough and choppy water in the bay so when other were gettin out of the gas i could just let it go bruce

JERSEY DEVIL 06-29-2012 10:03 AM

contact sharkey he should have the video of me running it
