I would think on a race boat. The way they are mounted in the picture would help in the turn. Mounted following the V would have to help with the rollover.

Fountain installs them straight on all their boats also.

Are u using an IT'S gimbal? Or no box, right on the transom?

As crazy as this sounds put a backing plate on the inside of the transom. I literal tore my tab out of the transom in a race last year. The bolts with fender washers, 5200 on the external plate and it still pulled it out. I never thought in a million years that would happen. Over build for strength. Weight is not an issue on the newer boats if put in the right locations. I wouldn't doubt you have 300-400 lbs of weight you will need to add to just make race weight. Nice problem to have LOL !!!

I am using the heavy duty imco gimble with the steeering no box as of now lol

Ever thought of lowering the motor and using a short drive shaft?

The drive on the transom should be quicker and accelerate better you might sacrifice a little bit of handling
