We've split into so many bodies that it just isn't that much fun anymore. Other than the Thunder Run and the partying I would not have spent a nickel to go to KW to watch the lame race I saw this year.
I was on the original board when F-1 and F-2 was formed back in the late nineties and it only took a few years for it to turn into a 'cheaters race'. Perhaps Gordo will join in here.
Grown men cheating in race boats to win nothing other than a title for the manufacturer. How stupid is that? Probably not if the GP got duped into buying a brand name with a trophy!
However I remain optimistic and hope one day boat racing will become as professional as NASCAR. One main body. One great show!

Re: Approved For Orl
I raced F1(1999-2000-2001) when we had 20+ boats duking it out.. Tech was good. The 525 Merc and political things beyond our control did F1 in. Speeds were approaching 90 MPH w/ the 525 , too fast , too expensive and hardly any payout. 500 efi is back now , one weight and real money for a checkered. It's going to happen.

Engine for ORL is a 500 efi. I know there not produced but they are everywhere. Also many retired F1 boats have 500's still sitting in them. Tyler Crockett builds a 500 efi also and it's being considered to let him provide engines.
