On The Heat

I think He should just buy the 33' that way when he spend 8 hrs in these forum he won't be a OUTSIDER.
The name of the boat could ACTIVE HEAT OR OVERHEATED or even CAN'T DANCE. :evilb: :evilb:

There is not a post of yours I don't read that doesn't leave me laughing.

I am just trying to fit in somewhere :( . There are 3 things that i will admit to;

1 - AT is 1 of only 3 boats that I would truly consider owning for my next purchase (and holds the top spot btw)
2 - Every single AT owner I have met has been very cool - 2 of which I am glad to say I have become pretty good friends with (although you are marginal at times)
3 - I can't dance

As mentioned in previous threads, if you boys would just start the '33 fund' for me, I may have a chance at owning one. Until then, I guess I will keep being a 'poser' :evilb:

PS - I do like the names you came up with...at least the first 2 :drink:

Re: On The Heat

so what are the other 2???? let us help you put them away. The Active family is the best, just look around the other threads they are not anywhere as fun or have the action. ALSO HAVE YOU EVER SEAN REGGI POST ON THE BEAK THREAD? Just go get the 33 and have a blast building it :evilb: :evilb: :evilb: :drink:

to leave her alone too. :(

Re: On The Heat

2 - Sunsation 32 Dominator SS - concern is that it is a small 32 and will not be a whole lot more boat than my 28 was

3 - Donzi 35 ZR - concern is low profile = small cabin

This also happens to be my order of preference (AT at #1). I realize you get what you pay for however, the Sunsation is the only one that falls within my current budget. Just trying to find some $$$ at this point.

cosmic12 12-16-2006 09:50 AM

Re: On The Heat

both nice boats and good choice's. But!!!! not enough freeboard, not enough cabin, not true measurements in LOA. So are you really paying more for the A.T. when you compare what you are really getting??? What is the difference in price? I never looked at Donzi. Idid look at sunsation and wasn't impressed although I did like how the cabin looked and the finish, just to small for the price and what they call 32ft. Is A.T. really more money than Donzi?

509 SC 12-16-2006 11:19 AM

Re: On The Heat

cosmic 12, I think you're right about the AT being less than the Donzi 35, with 525's the Donzi lists at $273,000 and runs 93.9 MPH  I think that might be a couple of clicks faster than the 33 though! Steve

cosmic12 12-16-2006 11:24 AM

Re: On The Heat

the Donzi may be faster but it is a lot smaller boat. It may not be any faster than the 33 if as you say it will run 93 the A.T. is running about the same . Maybe Steve will jump in here (REMEDY) I think the #s mat even be tha same (edit---Pat canI use your spell ck?)

I ran with a 38zr w/525's turning Herring 5 blade wheels this summer. He was boasting a top speed of 92mph. I was still breaking in the motors back then, so we didn't tach much over 4500.

It's hard to compare a production boat to a custom built, but I'd give Donzi some high marks for the fit and finish on the 38 I saw. Still, it didn't compare to the AT in many aspects; cabin size, cockpit size, freeboard and over all style. Our cockpit was as roomy as theirs and we're 5 feet shorter in overall length.

We still need to play with prop size and pitch to see what we actually top out at.

Rich made a very real realistic statement too you a couple of weeks ago"Buy the one you cant afford or you wont be happy". Now if you dont buy the 33 all of us are going to keep you On The Heat. :D :drink:

Re: On The Heat

I hear you guys.....I really do. The Donzi is my last choice of the 3. You can pick a new one up with 496 HO's for around the same price as a 33 AT with the same engines. The only reason Donzi was in consideration is that they are a production boat and have a few years in the making, which makes some lightly used (and therefore, within my budget) ones available. However, I haven't seen one and am sure that once I did, I would decide against it due to the limited freeboard and smaller cabin. It's sad that I have to go about it this way however, this is the problem when working with a budget.

There is no question that the 33 AT gives me everything I want in my next boat. It won't be long before I need to start asking myself some tough questions . At least I know I have a new found support group to fall back on :D

To be honest, I am mostly afraid to go with AT as i will have a really tough time getting Pat to come up with a paint job that looks to different from Activeshacks....man, I love that!!!!

I am going down Monday and Tuesday to play with some wheels on my 37. I will let you know what I find out. I hear the maximus are awesome at cruise and will keep within 1 mph at top when labbed.

Im anxious to hear your results. The mid range gains i got on my Fountain with the maximus props were well worth the 1 maybe 2mph drop on top end. Very noticeable fuel savings with the increased midrange.

Rich,

Where are the props? I would like to try them. I have some 28's comming down. With regard to loving XR's, you have to have reasonable slip. 10-12% is what I am looking for. I am getting way more than that with the bravos.

I am looking for mid-range since I spend most of my boating time between 3000-4000 RPM. How did your bravo XR's hold up?

Re: On The Heat

They are here in va.I could over night them monday morning if you want or i'll bring them down for the run jan 20.I'm not sure what my slip was before the whipples.I lost a couple rpms and speed but cruise was great.I think i was running 80 at 5100 prms with the 5 blades before they where cut down.
