I have a confession...

You guys may need to kick me out of here however, I believe I am going to order a new Sunsation Dominator SS. You all know I prefer the 33 AT however, I can't get there financially and don't want to be all summer without a boat.

I will place the order in about a week (need to secure 06 pricing) however, I am open to anything that may change my mind (ie. slboats wants to sell) :D .

In any event, you guys have been great and I really appreciate all of the support and suggestions you have given me. I hope you guys still let me hang around in here.....or at least tie up with you

I can't believe they are that much less expencive. Its a shame. I know the feeling about the $$$$ I will be boatless this summer but I will have an A.T. 33 or 37 next, nothing else will do, and I have settled before and lived with it but never again. Good luck and I hope you enjoy. We will have to think about letting you hang :evilb: :evilb:

Congratulations. The SS is a nice boat. You can always move up to the 33 next time.

Difference is Sunsation has an open forum on their web site that the owners hang out on all the time.

A paid membership sight vs a free forum provided by the builder. Same thing, but a lot of the Sun owners hang out on the site that Sunsation provides.

And with the Sunsation you get a quality boat that performs very well with non-blue motor power for a very reasonable price. SO yes, you do get what you pay for. The new 33 AT is a considerably bigger boat than a 32 SS so it is no surprise that it is more money. I love the looks of the new 33 AT. Pat and company did a great job with this new offering! It would be on my short list if funds allowed. Congrats on the new boat On The Heat.

Re: I have a confession...

How much do 32 Suns go for with 496's and 525's? My only concern would be rough water performance. I ran with one in 2-3ft slop one day and the boat was not doing too well. If you are a lake boater then ok. Big Bay or ocean, I would not go with the Sun based on what I have seen...

I agree i ran one in some 2/3 footers and it had big power and was a fast sunny but my 32 a/t with 500 hps ran away from it because he was on off the throttle to keep in control and i was wot running 85-86 on gps and very stable and smooth ride. love the a/t :drink:

I always love these comments being a LOTO LAKE boater.

Come on down some holiday weekend. Not the worst water in the world, but maybe the most unpredictable! :evilb:

I have been in a 32 AT in snotty stuff at LOTO, and have 5 years experience driving a dominator in it. No question, the 32 AT was better. But then again, the 32 At was 32 foot boat, not a 30 foot boat with a swim platform.

My point here is we are comparing apples to oranges. The hull lengths are different. Both boats are outstanding! :D Comparing prices is a matter of what kind of deal each of us made.

Re: I have a confession...

I had a long talk with Shawn last night. He's making a great purchase at a great deal.

Also, having a 32 Sun now allows him to graduate to a 37 AT in a couple years.

Re: I have a confession...

Thanks for the endorsement Brian and thanks to all of you guys for your comments and support.

Sounds like the biggest concern here is the snotty water. For those of you that are unaware, I do 85% of my boating on a lake in North Carolina (Kerr Lake aka Buggs Island) that has 800 miles of shoreline and sees 18" chop on the worst of days.

My desire to go from my 28 to a slightly larger boat was more about speed than anything else. However, I also know that a twin engine setup will give me the ride and stability I need for those 2 Poker Runs a year I do in the Chesapeake Bay/Atlantic Ocean (also keeps the pressure off of having to start first as running 67 top end left me in the rear with some nasty water real quick :)). While not optimal for the real bad stuff, the SS will give me an increased level of confidence going into some bigger water should I get a wild hair and decide to do a few more PR's.

In the end, this is another step towards a 37 AT for me....it will be my first twin engine boat and for my budget, I feel I am making the right decision with a solid, well made boat.

More thoughts/comments welcome...thanks guys.

Shawn This might work out for the best. When im ready to step up to a 43 AT in a few years you can buy OVERACTIVE. You said you like the paint so you get first refusal when the time comes :D Congrats on the new boat(even though its not an AT). You can still get a ride on mine.

I like that plan Mark....let's hang onto that one! Below is the paint job I will be ordering. It will be only the third Sunsation painted like this however, the first and last Dominator SS as they are retiring the template.

I am so pumped I can't stand it!!!!

Congrats on the boat and I won't hold it against you for not buying a AT. :D Do still want to be my boat biotch in Jan. down to Key Largo?

Rich - been meaning to call you...we are still working on a sitter however, not having much success. I will give it another run after Christmas (our normal +options are currently out of town) however, if you have the opportunity to take someone else, don't wait on me (although I know you prefer my hot wife in your boat :)).

I hope it works out however, if not, Lisa and I are both very appreciative of the invite....

Somewhat - 28 is below. I got my orange and yellow in there and a lot more it...purple is ok. Sunsations other options are really only red or blue and Lisa prefers the purple accents over the red.

I didn't know you had a Nodic. I was a dealer for them a few years back. I had a 99 28 w/500hp efi. Great lake boats. Did you have the elec door? You really aren't gaining much in the cabin with the Sun. Seems an odd move. Not bashing, just speculating.

Re: I have a confession...

Cosmic - yes, my Nordic was an '01. I was the second owner...loved the boat (and the electric door). It also had a very roomy cabin as you indicated.

In all honesty, I decided to make a move because I wanted a faster boat. I used to own a Hydrostream (79 MPH) and then an Allison (87 MPH) before switching to I/O's and getting into offshore performance boats. Since then, I have since been stuck at 65 MPH (2 boats over 5 years) and have been miserable at best. While I will only be gaining 3-4' of boat, I look to gain 18 MPH of top end which should make a huge impact considering my goals. We will only overnight on the boat once or twice a year so an equitable cabin is fine.

BTW - I will be more than happy to give you a ride...anytime!

Not sure if this was a typo however, I have a funny story on this. My 12 year old nephew would put his hand over the 'R' and look at me and giggle. We had a laugh on that one....
