Its kind of odd that we're having this conversation in the AT forum, because they are probably one of the most fair when it comes to pricing. But this forum is one of the few that you can have a controversial conversation in without getting attacked.
I'd just like to see a world where one buyer is treated equally to the next by eliminating price negotiations. Its not a fair fight because the dealer/manufacturer is the only one who knows how much it really cost them. If they are only going to make a 20% profit on Joe Dingleberry, I don't want them making a 40% profit on me just to make up for their earlier deal. Why not price so that everyone pays the same percentage and they always take in their 30% profit? I know there is a lot of disagreement about this. But i think it is fair to both the manufacturer and the consumer. The challenge lies in the changing of buyer behavior. Someone who is used to haggling a price will surely try to haggle a non-negotiable price as well. However this opens a whole new can of worms. |
YEAH!!! why didn't you start this in the Outerlimits or Cig department???::rolleyes:  :evilb:

JD buys it at $240k(20%mu), there is no way you'll be paying $280k for the same boat. There is waaaaaaaaay to much information on the web for this to happen. You can just ask the factory for a price, then ask three other guys here what it will sell for, then you can ask the guys who own them what they paid. You've gotta be well educated after that. If someone comes to me w/a price I need to hit, i'll do my best, unless I'm pretty sure they are lying. If someone comes to me w/o a f'n clue what they are doing? You can bet they'll pay more, and alot more than 20%! :evilb: |

What's that saying...if you have to ask..you probably can't afford it. Well, if you hang around OSO and really are smart enough to want an AT, you should know where to start the number game. And one more thing...who starts out with a NEW 37AT?....if you work your way up won't it be obvious? Lastly, Pat & Co. are more honest than most...just ask them.

Please let us know when the other manufacturers start posting dealer pricing on OSO. :evilb: Thanks, Jeff |
let's just say that the cost for a brand new 37 a.t. would be a minimum of a 100 k cheaper then a new 38 cigartette and will be faster with same power . " i think "
:) |
You can buy a new 38 Top Gun for around $350,000 with 525's and run 86mph. It was at the Miami Show. So there's a real number price for a Cig. I dont understand why AT cant just post what their boats cost. Is it a big secret or something??

My opinion, not the American way. Go buy something for $100 at Lowes and find it on sale at home depot for $75, or vis-a-vis. |
The wife just got home with more popcorn:cool: OK lets go I'm ready now:evilb:

I converse with a LOT of folks on here on OSO, but I refuse to use my friend Steve's bulletin board to market boats in ways I feel are unethical. Once contact is established, its best to take things to a one on one conversation, via phone or email--but not in a public forum. |
Is it just me, or do I hear an echo in here?

Thanks, Jeff Cabin liner or no liner? AC? Leatherette interior? Hot water system? Intercom? GPS? Smartcraft? Genset? Swim platform? Carbon fiber cockpit? How much paint? Lamborghini Orange, House of Kolors Orange or Dupont Orange? |
To answer the basic question at hand, the 37 with 496 Magnum HOs is $269k, retail. You can change it but just not for free.
There are no large discounts as implied in a few posts. It's felt that a more reasonable and straight forward pricing is favorable to an inflated price with ridiculous discounts. Kinda like when the wife comes home with $150 jeans bragging they were discounted to $90 and you are scratching your head wondering why your Levis only cost $45 and are twice as big and last three times as long. Sorry for lack of better sales skills but at the end of the day I try to call it like I see it. |
