X dimension ?

What are you guys running for X dimension on your 28's ?
Also what do they weigh ? & what kind of speeds are you seeing out of the 28 single's & with what power ? Also if you could give the prop silp & with what prop that would be great. Thanks alot , Scott

Anybody ???

Sydwayz 03-13-2007 12:42 PM

The 28s weigh roughly 4800-5000 lbs.

496HO 63-66mph
525EFI 72-75mph

If you shoot a PM to boatfreak28, he should be able to give you his x-dimension and prop info.

littledcsrodshop 03-13-2007 12:48 PM

Thanks I will send him a PM. Those are pretty good speeds for that power.

Brian is right on the weights and speeds. The dry weight on a 28 by the book is 4650 but what does that mean. I'm afraid I'll have to admit to being dumb on the x on these things maybe Pat could jump in here on that. I will add that Pat has never been afraid to be a little agressive on drive height. I run a 24 bravo lefty that has been worked on a little.

Thanks for the info. What kind of power are you running ?
What kind of speeds ( gps ) & @ what rpm are you turning the 24 bravo ?

boatfreak 03-15-2007 10:48 AM

Sorry I guess I left that out. I have a 496ho with a set of CMIs. I run 62-63 gps at 5000 rpm. The CMIs did not change my top end at all. I do think they pull through mid range better but that's all. My best gps speed to date was 65 in Florida this winter.

Thanks for the info. Who is running 700-800 HP in a 28 & what kind of numbers are they running ? I am asking all of this not to get in a " pissing contest " I have a 28 Saber that I am putting a big single in & since there are not many around I am just browsing for a little info. I have a good Idea where I want my X to be I just thought that I would see what you Active guys are running & what kind of numbers you are seeing @ a given RPM & what props & X- dimension.
Also are the bottoms of the 28 sharp or rounded at the bottom of the V ?
Thanks for the help & hopefully some more people will chime in. Scott

I think you will find the best comparisons with a 28 Pantera. PM BStubb. He has run similar power before. He has a notched transom but there is not that much difference in speeds and X dim. Also, if you search back in the Pantera section, there are a couple good threads.

I agree that a 28 Pantera is a great comparison & if it was a Pantera I would know exactlly where I would set the X at , I am just wanting some comparisons & feedback on the Actives.
A full pleasure Pantera is just a little heavier than my boat & a 28 Active may be a few pounds lighter. Thanks , Scott
