 What should Pat care? He sets up the boat for what he considers to be the best all around set up for his product. Most manufactures do. That doesn’t mean that you can’t play with it yourself and realize some value. Look at James, he got 3mph with a 1 inch spacer and Thunder Roy's boat ran 90mph with 500EFI's after he was done messing with props, boxes, and drive height. I was in his boat the day it was delivered and it ran 86. It’s what the owner wants. No two boats are the same. Rich said that the best all around prop on his boat was stock 32 bravos. On my boat the lab 32's ran 4-5mph faster than the stock 32's and got on plane faster and smoother.

FYI: James also had put in motors with roughly 150 more HP per side than what the boat was built with......drive height needs could have changed with that alone. |

Well my boat had 1-1/2" spacers when I got it. When I spoke to previous owner and told him I planned to take the spacers out he said"don't even try it" boat was blowing out and once on plane would porpoise out of control. Could be cause it's a twin 28...so I left them in after talking to Bobby Moore...x-dim. is 5.5" right now.
That is not X dimension. That is propshaft depth which is what really matters. Your X dimension does not change when you add a spacer, but your propshaft depth does. X dimension is based on the crankshaft centerline measurement from the bottom of the boat. |

Well put...you are correct,; I'm glad you said it like you did. I should have said propshaft depth is 5-1/2". However, had the motors been mounted a bit lower, with a shorter x-dimension, the spacers would not be needed. That's what I meant to say.

Yeah, but its lot less expensive to add a spacer and go deeper than it is to buy a shorty lower.

I know you care. I just busting your chops. You have been extemely helpfull to me. "Put a set of lab 32's on"!!!
I have to admit, however, that the last set you sent us were so SWEEEEEET. Especially after we get her up on plane. Next time we try those props, though, Jay has to sit up on the bow to get her on plane...... |
