Lake Cumberland P.R.

Who's going? I think I am and renting a houseboat stay on but need a few more couple to split the cost.

ACTIVESHACK 07-19-2007 09:50 PM

What's going on with the water level ?

docmanrich37 07-20-2007 05:21 AM

Talked to boatfreak and he said its 25' down but looks good and they have plenty of water, ramps are good but no 76 falls right now.Talking to Jen and we can either go to shake the lake in aug. at lake norman or l.c. p.r. Mike will be towing up there today after he picks up he's A/T and said he'll call me sat. to let me know about the houseboat rental.

tssteph 07-20-2007 07:03 AM

the lake is in great shape, I am there every weekend. I am hearing the party will be in Harmon Creek instead of the falls.

boatfreak 07-23-2007 09:32 PM

Just got in and like tssteph said the lake is in great shape. With the water down the lake is VERY clean. There is plenty of water anywhere the run will take you. The only place you will find shallow water is in the backs of the coves but you rarely go that far back anyway. The ramp at State Dock is in great shape. I loaded my 37 there today.
Come on guys lets have a Thunder Run in September at my home away from home.

But I will not like it unless the boat sells.

h2owarrior 08-05-2007 06:12 AM

Why are you selling the boat and truck ?

Kinda tired of the marine industry paying $120/hr for work done on boat and its the same service I got when I had a $20/hr. mechanic do the samething.Don't get me wrong I love my boat but JUST DONE with it all.I really can't wait to get rid of it but in the same sentance don't want to sell.

cosmic12 08-05-2007 06:41 AM

What the hell are you doing up so early on a sunday??? Don't you have a hang over to attend to?:D

h2owarrior 08-05-2007 06:43 AM

Man, you are up early in the US.....on a Sunday morning. Are you going boating today? Don't answer that, it was rhetorical.

I understand what you are saying......but I will have to buy another boat when we come back to the States, that way I can get pissed at how much it costs all over again:D

Nothing like a Love / Hate relationship. Keeps the juices flowing.

One of our club members allowed his wife to convince him to buy a Fountain 38 EC. Beautiful boat, but he says the ride sucks compared to his 38 go-fast. Surprising.

Mark, you should have run over to the Eastern Shore with us yesterday. OH, what a beautiful day! We had about half the club there.

On the way home, we had some fun racing past the cars along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. :D

there is a guy up here with one of those that hates it. Has had nothing but troulbe with it and has been back to Fountian for a bunch of problems. I have heard there is a law suite now. AAAAAAAHHHH the marine industry:angry-smiley-055:

spilman 08-05-2007 08:34 AM

Hey Cosmic, where are you gonna watch the poker run from next sat? We are coming up on friday, but I am not bringing the AT...hauling a 20' deckboat....got dock work to do and with low water levels I don't want to damage New Moon. Let me know where you'll be....we can hang & watch the run.

cosmic12 08-05-2007 08:45 AM

I may not be there. I am flying out to CA. this afternoon and depending on how the job goes I may have to stay. As of now I am catching the red eye Fri nite so I won't be in untill 9;30 sat anyway. If I make at all I hope to be up by the castle( can't remember the name) The old monestary one. And in a 35 Fountian Red White and Blue 1990 vintage but looks brand new, you can't miss it. Hope to see ya there

Actually, he has an SC not an EC. Got 496 HO's in it and it's capable of 60. Not bad for a 7 1/2 ton boat with that much room inside. But he said his after delivery punch list is two pages long. All kinds of problems. He is lucky there is a Fountain dealer here in Hampton.

I don't know if he's lucky or not. I told one of the owners at the above mentioned dealership last year that if he was the last hi-performance boat dealer in the country i would buy a sailboat before i would buy another boat from him. :angry-smiley-044:

boatfreak 08-05-2007 09:29 AM

Those of you that went on the run last winter will remember the 50 ft Hustler that went with us, Keith and Audry, well I hear he has traded it on a new 48 Fountain with deisels and arnesons.
Now while this is all very interesting it has nothing to do with the Lake Cumberland run so back to my original question. :p Who's coming to the lake?:boat:

I just talked to Mark and he corrected me in that it is an EC. Sorry, I'm not versed in the cruiser world....yet. :chimp:

Hey Mark, what party is that? Would love a good reason to run up your beautiful river. :signs043:

I would assume they will do it the same as last year and if so the answer is yes but you have to buy a ticket which was about 20 bucks.
