I'm waiting to get both of my fuel pumps replaced. Merc mechanic didn't get to it yesterday damnit! Chitty Merc design. Both sea water pumps are full of fuel.

I had to replace both of mine back in July. I keep a spare raw water pump and fuel pump on the boat since.

The water pump I kinda understand, BUT the fuel pump!!!! That sucks, you would think that a company as bis as Merc would be able to build it right espically for the $$$$ they get

There is a thread on this subject....Merc fuel pump mated to the raw water pump on blue motors...started by our very own ActiveShack in the Tech forum. Everyone who checked theirs discovered they had fuel in the raw water pump oil. I've been having too much fun with mine...and figuring it was so new I might not have a problem yet. WRONG. I unscrewed the plugs on the water pumps and discovered fuel contamination in both. My mechanic called Merc who told him they had not heard of an issue such as this unless the fuel pump is bad. Interesting that both of my pumps 'are bad' darn near out of the box.
