You're saying the size of the step on the hull is smaller than norm?

As for the step...

Harry and Pat designed the step of the AT AVH hull VERY specifically. The trailing edge of the step, the bottom edge of the transom and the propshaft are aligned on the same plane. (Per the original design with transom mounted Bravo1s with traditional 4 Blade B1 props.)

With the NXT drive mounted further back than the traditional Bravo transom mount, this adjusts things. Hence, Harry and Pat made some adjustments. Also, with the gentle transition to 5 and 6 blade props that like "more" or "less" water, X-dimension is adjusted from time to time; depending on the purpose for the boat.

It's only .875 shorter. Not quite a baby-step.

When I looked at the pictures Clark posted it looked (maybe because of the paint scheme and the name layout) looked like it was 2-3 inches short. So .875 makes it a 1 in. shorter?. Was told as these 37s with this new awsome hp and the speeds were taking these boats into a new realm that they had never seen before that "as speed increases the step decreases". Which is what you (Pat) are saying. It just looked quiet smaller overall to me.
But all that..if you went with some really radical power and pushed the speed way beyond the 105 area would it get even smaller or at a certian point would some form of a second need to be added. Every boat has a point that you run out of hull for certian power or speed. Many cases you need a larger hull.
Our fishboat was originally designed with a single step. But with newer outboard power they found they needed to add a shallow second step to increase the speed/stability..in some cases loosen the aft end while stabilizing the roll.
I would love to set with Harry and have him explain it.

This may be a dumb question but how do you change the step height using the same mold.

Pat had a pallet of the stuff on the dock last time I was there. There was also a pallet of KY too, but he said it was some top secret thing. I just don't get it. :hitfan: :D

When I built the molds for the 37 it was a Vee.

The step is an insert in the mold so we can change it or even build a V if you want one!
