I know this a vague question, but I'm looking more in just generality than anything......
I'm working on a deal with a 32, & I've definetly got my heart set on being a proud of owner of an AT in the spring. I've also been watching these crazy fuel prices, & it has me wondering what my fuel cost will go up to (from a single 26 ZX). The boat is powered with hp450's, & I do most of my boating in the 50-55 mph. The owner says at that speed, the engines are running around 3 grand. Now, I'm thinking, at that rpm, that should be the best for economy.....So my question....
At that rpm on those engines, is 1 mpg sound about right, or should I see better?
We boat alot during the summer, & here on the MS coast, our boating season is at least 6 months. I don't want to be forced into a shorter boating season, or having to limit my runs in it....
I suppose I could just widen my "circle of friends" that are boatless.....but have a job
Thanks for the input....

Burned 110 gal to run 123 miles on the first leg of the KW trip (Pompano to someplace in the Keys) at 3500-4000 rpm and 55-62 mph. My feeling is fuel burn is better at 50 mph in my boat. I do not think I am into the carb secondaries at 3000-3300 (50-51 mph).
Gas is still the cheapest part of owning one of these boats though.

At cruise speeds with my 502mpi's, I'm at about the same rpm and speed and probably in the 1.5mpg area from what I've seen so far. Never really tested the mileage thing. I saw very little difference in mpg going to the AT from my 28 Pantera with a 525SC.

Looks like everyone had a good trip to KW, I do hope we can fit that one into our boating schedule for next year

Thanks, that's about where I was figuring, probably closer to the 1 mpg with the carbed engines.

get the boat, you'll have a blast. Plus then I have another boater to hang around the MS. islands with.

[/QUOTE]I look forward to it....Hopefully if all goes well (weather turns warm early enuff), I'll be able to get up to Wisconsin, close the deal, & pull her home. Maybe even in time for the "Blessing of The Fleet"......I do hope it will be better than this year....
