The first word we got was that the boat was being fixed by the owner. Apparently that's not the case.
The accident happened on a VERY small lake in California. The boat was for sale here on OSO when the accident happened. According to the published report, the driver exited the boat, and hit the throttles on the way out, with no lanyard of course. The boat traveled some 75+ feet up an embankment. The engine running in the picture is encouraging, but still does not prove that they did not overheat. Who knows how long they actually ran dry after making it up the embankment; not to mention all the oil being at the the back of the pan at the same time. A deep dive with a RINDA will tell you more on their health.
Given that the boat went 75 feet up, and then 75 feet back down (dragged back down into the water), and from the patch on the side that they floated it back to its trailer, I'd say the boat is in a helluva lot better shape than I would have expected.
