Is that true? That must be new. Last year the 496's came with 2 year if installed by a "Diamond Mercruiser" Manufacturer and 1 year if they were not a "Diamond Mercruiser" Manufacturer. All a Diamond manufacturer is a company that installs more than X amount of motors a year. Fountain, Donzi, and Baja are all Diamond

The reason I know that was that Pat was trying to sell me on a 496 33 when I bought my boat. To upgrade to the 5 year extended it was 3K per side at in late 2006.

Sorry for the incorrect info. For some reason I had it set in my head that the 496's had a 5 yr. warranty.

I think Brian told me he had 5 yrs on his 496's. I didn't realize it was an extended plan that he was referring to.

Now, aren't you glad you opted for the 37? I sure am because it was YOUR boat that sold me! :D

Now, if it would just quit raining...I can splash my girl...and fill the tanks before gas goes to the moon...:(

Why all the argument over 496s or 525s, they just need to be staggered :evilb::party-smiley-004:

I love the 37. Especially since I boat in FL a lot. There are few boats build that I would feel comfortable in saving Jasby's ass in 6-8 footers at night! :)

My next one is going to be staggered :grinser010:

I thought this thread was about building a 39 footer.
Just take that stupid swim platform of the 43 and you'd be there.
Besides Thunders have flat transoms and recessed forward decks..that's just how it is.
What ever you build... it needs to be able to be staggered even if it means getting Harry and redesigning or moving the step.
I believe today to be competitive speed is more important than size. But the real trick is to have both!!

Absolutely !!! There's a reason Nor-Tech, Cigarette, Outerlimits, Donzi, Fountain and others are doing it. Of the just named builders you see who I mentioned first. :grinser010:

They all stagger with a different hull design than the DDC.

Just because it works well for others, does not mean it will work well for all.

I can do 92 with stock power and ride better in snotty seas than the competition. I will take the AT design over the competition any day of the week. :D
