Active Thunder Warranty.

I'm going to the AT factory on Friday to check out a 33 and take a demo ride on a 37. If things go well, I intend to order a 33.

After reading the thread about cockpit fading, I'm a little concerned that the boat was not immediately fixed without question and then AT work out the expense with the vinyl manufacturer. (maybe more to the story than I know)

So how good is the AT warranty? Anybody had any issues that went unresolved? What kind of warranty work have you had done? Thanks for the input.

I'm on my second Active Thunder and have had no warranty issues with either boat.

I'm with boatdrinks on this. I'm on my second A.T. and would take a third one in a heartbeat if I could afford the boatshow boat. I think this whole vinyl mess, as ugly as it my be right now, will get worked out. I think you will find the customer service you get at A.T. is way above what you would get with a large volume builder. When was the last time you had the owner of your boat company drink beer with you and hit you in the head with a dinner roll.:D

From the little time I have spent here in this forum since I bought mine, I am sure there is very few companies with better customer service in the boating industry. What other forums does the owner address questions and issues with all his customers, new as well as older used models? I cannot wait to upgrade to a newer and larger AT when the time comes.

Warranty=:argue: I've talked with Pat today and my problems are adjusted better than they were. Your going to enjoy going on one of Pats legendary demo rides and dont let any of this Carbono vinyl crap alter you from buying an AT. It's a great boat.

ActiveThunder 04-07-2008 06:54 PM

I'm going to give this more thought before I post.

I've had one warranty issue with my boat and it was fixed and sent back to me over the winter. Our boat is 9 years old. Someday we will buy a larger boat, and it will be an AT:D:cool-smiley-011:

How a company handles warranty issues, or complaints is what sets apart the good from the great companies.

I had several problems with my Nordic when I first received it, the biggest had to do with their trailer. Someone forgot to put the surge solenoid in the trailer, and some times when backing up the brakes would lock up. Their solution after spending 225K for my second Nordic from them was to buy a clamp, and get out and clamp the trailer when I want to back up. I am glad the previous owners, and managers are no longer a part of Nordic, but because of the past experience, and how they handled my problem I will not buy another.

I am glad this problem has been resolved, I enjoyed meeting Pat this winter, and was hoping there would be some acceptable resolution for both.

Beak Boater 04-08-2008 07:21 AM

Every business, company, or enterprise, that sells or produces something at some point will have a problem with customers. Doesnt matter what the problem is. How the problem is handled is the difference between good or average, and great customer service. In most cases I have heard about, Pat not only fixes the issue, but exceeds the customers expectations. That may in part explain the "Cult". Although I dont own an A/T, I have several friends that do, their satisfaction, and repeat sales speak volumns about Pats product. I followed this thread to see what the outcome would be. I wouldnt have expected anything less from Pat.

45sonic 04-08-2008 07:25 AM

Pat stands behind his product through and through. Customer satisfaction comes first.

Being a dealer for both I will say this....the "OLD NORDIC" was always difficult to get the factory to help...so we ate every fix of warranty issue to keep our customers smiling. The "NEW NORDIC" is excellent with warranty even on the older stuff that legally they are not responsible to handle. They realize what has happend in the past and have focused on warranty as well as top shelf customer service. NOW AT is also superior to other MFG's ....... they handle all issues with speed and care. As a dealer we will also be involved with customer issues to make things even faster and better.

A peice of the bolster backing broke from me squeezing my fat azz down low into the bolster. Operator error not AT's problem but Pat fixed it anyway:cool-smiley-011:

There-in was the problem. It wasn't Pats product that was defective.

You guys need to read my earlier post more thorough. I said adjustments had been made. They are trying to get the manufacture of this crap to pay up but I dont think thats going to happen. It's still going to cost me some coin to get it fixed so in all honesty I cant say I'm completely satisfied. At this point I dont care about the money I just want my boat back looking like it should so I can get it out of there.

Exactly, All boat manufacturers use products in building their boats. But let there be a problem with the component and it's now up to the product manufacture themselves to warranty the product not the people who use/installed it. Sure they can replace the bad product but if they don't reimbursed for the cost of the part and or labor the boat manufacture loses. Had too many dealings with this same problem when working on boats.

TCBoss302 04-08-2008 09:51 AM

Thanks for all the input. It seems I have nothing to worry about with AT warranty or customer service. I'm looking forward to the tour and demo ride on Friday!

I will post some results of our investigation into the carbon fiber vinyls tomorrow. It seems to still be what the consumer wants to see so the big question is how we can make it more user friendly.

Some of the investigating is interesting and should help with keeping higher quality standards in the future.

Thanks, Pat

That is so funny and I won't even relive the stuff I've went thru with you because it's not worth it anymore. I don't need to say anything you can talk to all nevermind.

JUPITER PULSARE 04-11-2008 02:48 PM

It sounds like the old phrase "You can't please all the people all of the time..." I can only tell you guys this, as a past employee of Active Thunder responsible for factory sales and service, I've seen Pat fix boat issues that other manufacturers would never touch! It may take some time to get it done (usually during the winter season) but the man stands behind his product and the repairs exceeded the customers expectations. I was proud to be part of Active Thunders "growing stages" and if I were in the market for an offshore boat I know who would get my $$$. There will always be warranty issues with any manufacturer whether it be Cigarette, Fountain, Outerlimits, MTI, Skater, Eliminator, Sunsation, etc. etc. etc.
Active Thunder and Pat will be there when you need him most! Steve E.

Maybe I need someone to spell it out for me. From what I gather the carbon fiber, which is probobly on the dash, is fading???????

It's not the dash but the vinyl cockpit material called carbono aka carbon fiber.

I agree with the 'let's go have a drink'.

But I will honestly say this came about because I didn't push hard enough to get this resolved.

Unfortunately November turned into April quicker than I ever imagined. I assure you this will not happen again.

Pat
