The local VA AT cult hideout is at Activeshacks pad. Mark and Lori are right on the Chickahominy River. If you plan on staying on the boat, he might be the guy to reach out to. I'm not sure how much dockspace he's got left, but there is a ramp right down the street from his place that we all launch from.

Myself, R'Addiction, Macklin and some others will be there for the weekend.

You could also reach out to Brian/Sydwayz.

so who's butt do i need to start kissing? should we start sending mark captain or goose? or would it be better to send lori flowers? if its based on talent i can make a mean bloody mary from just about anything.

ActiveShack, Excursion, or Sydwayz should be able to help....not sure where some of the other AT cult members are staying so look into that. If your staying on the Chick near Mark's a marina around the corner called River's Rest might be a good alternative if his dock is full. Closer to the start of the run is slim pickings without restaurants like Anchor Point, Hopewell Yacht, and Small Boat Harbor, but all would have slips.

iam going to try and sit down with the gps in the next few days and see where the run starts and stops. look into some charts of the area after that. would love to hook up with someone on thursday/ friday that knows the area and hit some sites. i just know so little about the area that i read your post and say huh?? but thats why iam starting early, i will learn hopefully.

Sydwayz 06-09-2008 04:08 PM

Scott, I just sent you a PM. We have you all set.

You will put on roughly 200 miles round trip Saturday and Sunday total. You will see quite a bit. And the nicest thing is you and I will not have to fill up in the middle!

Right Pat??? :D

Friday after 4PM is still somewhat of a cloudy/foggy/blur to me as well. I can't believe we made the start of the Poker Run on Saturday. They could have been selling that bottle of Motrin for $75 bucks, and I still would have bought it.

I left the names so you could ask others opinions too.......With over 100 boats last year and over 80 already paid this year we have people staying all over the area that weekend. Your sure to get hooked up with a group staying somewhere. (I've got kids to ditch with the grandparents friday night so I don't get started til sat AM...)

The basic run starts at Jordan Point which is nearly 100 miles inland and runs to the bay/ocean front (just over 90 miles one way). The party is at those docks and banquet at the hotel that night...Sunday, everyone runs back to the starting point (or trailer/launching location depending on where you started). Activeshacks place (near river's rest) is on a finger river (called the Chickahominy river) coming off the main PR course (on the James River) at about the midway point of the run.

Alot more details but that's the basics......

BTW: I'll be getting gas for the run back as most of us will..no sense in making that last 1/4 mile difficult!!!! :)

Me too. I recall Monsoon waiting for his turn at the gas dock last year behind me. Chuck Beecher said the only time you can have too much gas on the boat is if your on fire.

boatfreak 06-09-2008 09:44 PM

Well it's official that I won't be there so you can have that spot at Marks dock that I was planning on taking up all weekend. Have fun and watch those little sissy drinks of Marks they will kick your butt.:drink:

spilman 06-09-2008 09:56 PM

starting to get psyched for this run...BTW, we did not need to fuel up last year all weekend; just twin 50 gallon tanks....nothing like twin small blocks, especially now!!

Sydwayz 06-09-2008 10:29 PM

I ran a lot farther last year than I plan to this year. I made two trips to Jordan Point to/from the kink in the Chick.

spilman 06-09-2008 10:38 PM

this year we would like to head up to Mark& Lori's to hang w/ the gang...

Nothing like inviting myself!! We look forward to seeing everybody...Even you Scott(OCD)!

Mark, how far are you from Jordan Point? If we put in there Friday afternoon maybe we could get over to your place for the evening "Festivities"...We plan to stay on the boat either way; last year Jordan point was fine, just not the best docks.

15 miles downriver to the James and about 15 more upriver to Jordan point. We come right by the mouth of the Chickahominy during the run on Saturday. We took a 22 passenger bus from my house to Jordan Point last year on friday night for the captains meeting. Some of us ran up to JP saturday morning for the start and a couple of the guys just fell in with the pack when they came by the Chick. We have the big throwdown here on sunday afternoon/night when we get back.

24skaterVA 06-10-2008 07:24 PM

Hey Shack if you start running out of room at your docks I'm sure we could find a couple docks on my side if someone needs a place to tie up overnight.

we might be the one's coming over for some dock space...I entered late so I'm last in the Shack line up for dockage; either place would be just fine. Becky will probably want to stay @ Jordan for the "facilities"...

Gotcha!!!

How's the little guy? Are you riding with K & Steve again? We could always use some ballast! Who knows, after you fly with us you might consider a 28 twin for your 1st AT!!

ACTIVESHACK 06-10-2008 09:11 PM

A couple of the neighbors have offered there docks so there will be plenty of room scattered up and down the street. I'll find somewhere for everybody.

...don't forget about us non-AT losers who will be at Jordan Point.:drink:
Hope to see some of you at the captain's meeting Friday night.

Bajario and GoodTymn are two friends of ours. They are also going to spend Friday night on the Chick, more than likely at River's Rest on their Bajas, and join the PR with our crew as we come down the Chick.

I'm actually considering leaving from the Chick that morning too....but would need to make the run up that morning to help-out at the check-in desk.

Russ, I may make the run with ya, being my first time for Jammin, I am leaning on joining everyone for the Start, but with gas where it is..............., jumping in before Jamestown sounds pretty good.
does Cult Supporter/fan/friend/one day - count?

Don't count on me leaving from the Chick...I have said this 3 years running but always get over-ruled by the queen. We'll see if things change this year???? She likes sleeping in her own bed Friday night even if we have to get up earlier to get to the ramp and launch Sat AM. (thankfully we get to drop off the kids Friday afternoon)

I don't have Cult status either....Although I love my Formula, I prefer an AT over anything else out there!

There's going to be several of the local guys and a couple of my guest who are going to do that this year and they are all familar with the Chick. I'm right around the corner about a mile upriver from the Rivers Rest. It should be a line of boats heading down to Jamestown that morning. I only know of a few boats myself included that are going up to JP for the start.

cosmic12 06-11-2008 02:15 PM

Mark sounds like you have quite the bash going this year, You are the Jammin man for sure. Wish I could be there.I will be here in the dismal Oregon waiting for pics. Have fun and be safe:ernaehrung004:
