We returned home today to the snow and cold of Chicago after a long weekend in Pompano Beach. We finally got the opportunity to run our new (used) 28' AT Savage. Although it rained all day on Saturday, we went out on Sunday (VERY rough and windy) and Monday (a little better). Since this was our first Florida boating experience, it was nice to have a real good friend who has lived in Pompano his whole life, and knows the inlet (can be a very dangerous place) and the area like the back of his hand. We also were able to keep the boat at his house on a canal just off the Intercoastal. I didn't think he'd like performance boating too well- he is an old pro sport-fish guy (big Merrits, Bertrams, and Hatteras). He was grinning ear-to-ear by the end of the day Monday!
I never had any doubt about the construction of this boat, but after running in the conditions we were in, I'm an even bigger believer in the fact this is about as good as it gets in `under 30 foot' true offshore performance boats. We were in some snotty water Sunday, and dropped the boat out of a few second-story windows out there, and never heard a creak or groan. The boat performed great, and we had a lot of fun! I hope we can all get together for a run this spring!
Jassman- Sorry we missed you by only a day or so- we saw your instrument panel and it looks FANTASTIC! The hull is coming along quite well too.
ThunderDan- Pat showed the wife and I your boat (it's come a long way since we bought ours in December). It looks great, and my wife now knows what our next boat is going to be! (Thanks)
Todd- Tim showed us a handful of broken valve springs- I think you'll have a big smile on your face the next time you drive your 32. Hope we can join you for that!
Gordo- A lot of activity around the One Vision boat!
Thanks again to Pat and Steve and the entire AT crew for all your help and in making the finest boats out there! IMHO, you guys are the best the boating world has to offer!

Jafo,
Thanks for the compliments. I was amazed at the size of the 28. It also looks different than when I saw it. Did you change the graphics or colors or something. It looks different-maybe it is just the picture or maybe my eyes are worse than I thought. Anyway glad to hear you got a chance to run the boat in the water it loves, SNOTTY...Hope to catch up with you and the rest of the AT family sometime.

Dan- You're eyes are OK- we didn't like the graphics colors too well when we first saw the boat (stripes, not the large purple splash). They knew it was a concern in our purchase.
Pat and Steve graciously changed them to our choice of stripe colors! It matches up much better now!
We were one of the few to test those snotty waters out of the inlet last Sunday- a boatpix.com helicopter was following us closely for a little while. I have inquired to see if they got a shot of us.
Anyone procrastinating about an AT purchase? JUST DO IT!!!!!

Still there! Hoping to get down again for some more seat time before bringing it home for the summer.
Would really like to get together with you guys when yours are done, although I don't think I'll keep up too well until we get some Whipples installed (later this year?)
