"MONSOON" is a coming.........

Just like to introduce ourselves to the Active Thunder family. We’re Todd and Stephanie from Phoenix, Arizona. We recently ordered the new 37AVH. Initially called “Cactus Cooler” we have renamed the boat “MONSOON”. The preliminary designs are now on the LatestNEWZ section of the AT website and we would love your feedback and thoughts. We’re looking forward to bringing such a great product like Active Thunder to the west coast. My wife and I are active members with the Arizona HotBoat Association and look forward to running the new boat in Poker Runs on Havasu and outings to Lake Powell and the Pacific Ocean. The comments in this forum and our trip to the Active Thunder factory during the Miami Boat Show sold us on AT. In fact we haven’t even ridden in a 37 AVH. We only demo’d a 99 Vee when we were there last month, but we know we’ll end up with an incredible boat. Like everyone else we are anxiously waiting the completion of ThunderDans boat to see the new cabin. I know it has been said here before, but I would like to repeat it. Pat and Steve at Active Thunder Boats have been excellent to deal with and would recommend them highly to people considering a new Offshore performance boat. We look forward to meeting some other Active Thunder owners in the near future. If we can make the Thunder Run in the fall, maybe we’ll win something for the furthest traveled. By for now from Phoenix- Home of Year Round boating. It was 85 last Sunday. Awesome.

Todd and Stephanie

ps- "Cactus Cooler" is available

Welcome, and what a wise decesion. I wll check it out on the web and let you know what I think.:D

thunderdan 03-12-2002 02:40 PM

I really like it, nice touch with the lightning..... :D :D :D

ToddW 03-12-2002 02:42 PM

Dan,
Thanks. When I saw the Lightning on the back of your boat. I definately wanted to incorporated something similar. Can't wait to see yours when its completed surprizes and all.

yzbert 03-12-2002 03:07 PM

todd,
what did you think of the 99 vee that you demo'd. my wife and i are heading down next month to the factory and are going to look at both new and hopfully that 99. the new cabins and avh bottom sound alot better but just dont know if we can swing a new one. could go with new 32 but need the space. just was courious to your thoughts on the 99 and the vee hull.

scott

have not been able to see you design, but like the name.

ToddW 03-12-2002 03:17 PM

Scott,
We like the ride in the 99. It was our first ever ride in the ocean in a performance boat. So I can't speak of all the technical aspects of the ride. We too considered the 32, but did not want to be upgrading in size again in a couple of years. We out grew our 20', then our 26' in just a couple of years. The new cabin and life time warranty were big factors in our decision. I think the 99 would be a great boat for the price.

yzbert 03-12-2002 03:39 PM

thanks for the input,
we have a 32 fountain right now so also dont want to make a lateral move. there is so much good talk about the avh i would hate to get stuck with a vee in a few years as more enter the used market. at needs more people with 37 vee hulls to talk them up. big price difference in the used market with 38 formula step and none step.

who has a 37 vee AT and wants to tell me how awesome it is?

pretty cool graphics by the way

scott

ToddW 03-12-2002 03:43 PM

thanks scott

Hope you get the inputs your looking for.

Jassman 03-12-2002 04:13 PM

Congrats guys, looks real good, enjoy the boat and hope to see ya on some Poker runs or the THUNDER REGATTA this year.:D

ToddW 03-12-2002 04:17 PM

ThunderDan,JASSMAN,H2OWarrior,

What trailer are you all considering? MYCO, South Florida Trailers, etc.

Jassman 03-12-2002 04:20 PM

Im letting Pat work that out, I just want the tires and wheels to match my next vehicle, Im thinking South Florida, aluminum.:D

thunderdan 03-12-2002 07:30 PM

Todd,

Pat uses two trailers, SOuth Florida as well as another aluiminum trailer company. I can not remember the other name right now it escapes me. But the other on is the one I am getting.:D It is the same one that Mark has for his.:D :D

thunderdan 03-12-2002 07:44 PM

I think the name is nexrail or something like that. I must have killed those brain cells along with the ones that had the memory of jassman.:p :D :D

Jassman 03-12-2002 08:52 PM

you wish you had my brain cells, why you going with the other one, please explain in further detail, slowly, so my brain cells can comprehend them, thankyou for my further education, DANNY.:p

thunderdan 03-12-2002 08:58 PM

There really is only one reason, cause Pat said so.:p :D

Jassman 03-12-2002 09:01 PM

GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME:D

ToddW 03-13-2002 02:04 PM

Thanks for the inputs. I like the South Florida trailers as well.

h2owarrior 03-13-2002 05:39 PM

We are going with MYCO, steel painted trailer with electric surge brakes. We don't boat in salt water and prefer the look of the painted trailer.

h2owarrior 03-13-2002 05:47 PM

ToddW, I looked on the AT website for you graphics and could not find them. Can you post the link so I can have a look.

ToddW 03-13-2002 05:50 PM

Check the LatestNEWZ under MOONSON paint design.

h2owarrior 03-13-2002 05:58 PM

All I see is the cactus cooler name:confused:

ToddW 03-13-2002 05:59 PM

refresh your screen it pulling up an old screen from your cache. the same thing happen t me.

thunderdan 03-13-2002 07:06 PM

I think I actually like the nexrail trailers a bit better, but what do I know. I would talk to Pat and see what he thinks.:D

Jassman 03-13-2002 11:14 PM

I like the Myco, have to go with Aluminum though, and they are approx. 2k more.:(

thunderdan 03-14-2002 09:47 AM

What type of brakes are you (h20 and Jassman) looking at? Are you towing with a wieght carring or distributing hitch.:)

ToddW 03-14-2002 04:46 PM

My preference are disc. I currently have 4 wheel disc on my trailer and have no problems. Anyone else have an opinion on brakes disc vs drum? I guess I could search for a previous discussion on this, I am sure it has happened before

thunderdan 03-14-2002 06:38 PM

Are use using electric or surge brakes and do you boat in the salt or fresh, and do you use a wieght carring or distributing hitch. :D

h2owarrior 03-14-2002 11:16 PM

We are going with electric surge brakes. I think they are disks, I mean they will be disks. We will use the boat in fresh water so the painted steel works best for us. I have got this thing for MYCO trailers. I am buying a premium boat and its going to live its life on a premium trailer.

We are also going with a dead weight hitch. I have an F350 Crew Cab Dually 4X4 with a Reese Titan Class V hitch. Not sure of the tongue weight, but I think the truck can handle the AT. I am sure the hitch can.

I guess if we are going to go on the thunderrun we will have to have the boat craned in.

thunderdan 03-15-2002 01:20 AM

h20,

I am sure that one little swim in some salt water will be just fine for your trailer.;) :D

ActiveThunderTodd 03-15-2002 01:41 AM

I have a Myco and really like it. I use it in salt a couple times a year. Just make sure u rinse iot off after every time it goes in the water. My trailer is showing some rust but not bad.

Hey Pat owns a body shop...hmm maybe he can do some touch up for me?? Guess I'll have to ask.

ssherman 03-15-2002 06:24 PM

I also have a painted myco with a swing away drive guard and aside from where the two mopeds rubbed the paint off up front the trailer is fine it sits on torsion axle suspension (a little more but worth it) I had the trailer lowered to match the stance of the dually I was towing with. The only upgrade to the trailer will be going to electric over hydrallic and adding brakes to the third axle.

Jassman 03-17-2002 08:17 PM

How much was that trailer, sounds great:)

ssherman 03-18-2002 06:57 PM

Jassman I paid 7k for it back in the spring of 98 I delt directly with MYCO and it was very easy. If i did a new trailer now I would do galvanized with fiberglass fenders and custom wheels. Or i would consider stepping up to a pressurized rail trailer that is sealed and painted to match.

Jassman 03-18-2002 07:00 PM

Thanks ESSERMAN, Ill check into it, along with the aluminum ones, what is the difference if they are all welded, where is the trailer built better on say the Myco.

ToddW 03-18-2002 07:01 PM

SSherman,
I saw on another thread that you might make the scope run. If our boat is done in time, we'll be there. It would be great to start seeing some ATs running together in the Pacific

ssherman 03-18-2002 07:05 PM

I just relized it is the same Weekend as the LOTO shootout i missed it last year and every year i have taken the thunder we have won our class so i am not sure what i will do I will let it just shakedown how it shakes but i will be in Havasu for the heatwave run (riding with jeffrey in speed racer)

ToddW 03-18-2002 07:12 PM

ssherman,
I'll have to look you up at the heatwave run. I will probably be boatless by then as our current boat is for sale and has to go.
