Back in the early 90's, I rode in that boat a few times with the original owner (Bob Harris) around St. Joe/western Michigan area which is were I grew up. Before that (mid 1980's) Bob had a 302 Formula with stock Merc 330's....then he modified them to 475hp with dry GIL exhausts until he ordered the 32' AT from the factory in 1988 or so. Bob's parents had a cottage in the St. Joe area back in the early 1980's and he would usually trailer his boat over from Chicago.

Bob did most of his boating between Michigan City and Grand Haven where he and his bad to the bone 32' AT got his reputation. Most of the time Bob was fun to be around until he would suddenly pull some really embarrassing stunts (matter of perspective to some I suppose) in and around the ports. One of his common stunts was planing off in the jetty/channel between the pierheads many times from as much as 100+ yards or more within the channel with other boat traffic ----and he didn't care who he pissed off! And I have watched him piss off a lot of people. I once had to drive his boat "RUNNIN' HOT" back from South Haven to St. Joe because Bob was mostly not in his right frame of mind go figure---> . I remember being very impressed wll the boat handled the rough water. That is why I own a 32' AT today. On a few occassions I watched Bob beat some larger boats with big power in water that I thought the other boats would dominate....and the offshore community in and around the southern Lake Michigan area quickly learned how BAD that 32' AT really was.....so, even though Bob had a bit of an attitude I have to admit he could DRIVE that boat. He was a jackass sometimes, but---that boy knew how to DRIVE that boat!!!

Oh, by the way....the last time I physically saw "RUNNIN' HOT" was maybe 2 years ago being towed while I was driving down the express way as I was heading north I saw the boat heading south (between South Haven and Saugatuck). From what I could see it appeared that hull was pretty well intact with some burn marks showing on the deck and cockpit area---the SSM #4 drives and extension boxes were still on the transom. I was very surprised to see the boat.

Yes, it was either "Thunder Boats" or just "Thunder" to my best memory. They were originally made in the Chicago area. It didn't become "Active Thunder" until Pat bought it and changed the name to "Active Thunder".

True. The boats also had the name Cannon once, depending on who was actually leasing the molds/laying up boats.
