Never been to the worlds, and always wanted to go. Just looking for some good advice to make the trip the best I ever had.

Honestly I would leave the 23 bowrider at home and fly in(unless your are a road-trip kind of person). If you get down to the sea wall at Truman Annex or Mallory square, you will have as good of, if not better view of the racing.

If you do bring the boat, you can rent slips overnight but they are not cheap. Even keeping it on land wont be cheap as you will hve to keep it at a marina. Also, last year there was a lot of theft. Drives, props, steering rams, trailer hitches/balls, etc.

Try to get a hotel on Front St. You want to be close to Duval St. A friend stayed at The Westin and liked it. I have a timeshare at The Galleon, so I never have to worry about that stuff. Others may know some of the other hotels close to Duval.

We don't want to fly, because we'd also like to explore the florida waters. The race is more an excuse to go to Florida. Trailering isn't that bad for the bow rider, can still haul arse and not too bad on gas.

But theft is a concern... better take my brothers truck. lol

Really, prolly make sure we have lots of theft deterrants. That's probably another reason to keep it in the water at a marina... less teft from under water.

Prolly the only real way to combat theft is insurance.

What's expensive in Key West? $4 /ft.

Gotcha.

99% sure my buddy's $3400 steering rams were stolen off his Skater while it was in the water! I don't think you would have much to worry about with a 23 foot bowrider as long as you took the portable electronics with you. The crooks are more after the expensive props, drives and sterring rams.

I cant remember exactly what my Dad paid for his 24 Progression in water storage, but I think it was something like $70 a day.

At this point I think your biggest issue is going to be finding a room. I bet most rooms are booked up. You may have to stay outside of the Duval st. area, but the island is not that big(2 miles x 4 miles).

Joe give me a call and I will give you the scoop. We went 2 years ago. Rooms are not cheap and this late you will have slim picks.
Great event to go to though.
