Hey ActiveMike

Why do you say Sould have left it that way?

Are the whipples giving you trouble? I'm considering a whipple on my 525. It runs really well now, but more speed is always good. Or should I just leave it as is?

Ray

no problems except blew both drives after 55 hours. The whipples on the 525s will last you 300-400 hours as a stock 525 will.

A bunch of good points.. The reason for thinking about the 600s is that i have a few freinds that are running 86 or 88 and it would be great if i could leave them behind. If the 600 would push the boat 95 or 96 it might be worth the upgrade..

boats 35' on up are seeing 3 to 4mph gain.. it's not worth the coin. The 700 is an awesome package.

First of all the drive issue has nothing to do with HP. The torque on the 600 is too much for the bravo if you get a hammer sticks behind the wheel. It is not the HP.

Plus, why would you want to run 90-92 when you can run 105? If you want to run 90-92, go with the 525's, herrings and a super light cabin configuration. You will get there but you will need to save 1500lbs at a minimum.

100 is the new 80MPH. Remember when 80 was the old 100mph? Got to keep up the Jones'! And yes I mean Stu…Shack knows what I am talking about. 90mph is so 2001!!!!

Jeff is also right. Every single boat I have seen with the 600's gains ~3mph over the 525 package. Now you are talking 90-91mph on a good day. Yes, Gerald’s 600 staggered boat ran 94 but they were much lighter then.

Pat, drives have everything to do with the owner. I know some of the owners of your 700 boats! :0

Jassman was that your 43 that my buddy wayne bought.. If so that is a nice boat, he loves that boat.

H.P. and Torque go hand in hand.
Clarks above mentioned configuration would probably work day in and day out. Also remember "Reggie Cashiola" :evilb:only ran with empty tanks!!!!!!!!!!!:evilb: and he was staggered and not that much faster than Thunder Roys best with 500s boxes and Imco shorties. and Herrings And Roy always had gas.

At the very least it's a 'hung' jury. (don't touch that, Jeff )

Didn't Shack have a failure?

Gerald's boat was one of the heaviest 37s ever built. I ran the boat at 95 with fuel here in the ocean. Not much, if any, prop testing was done.

I never saw more than 89 with Roy's with muliple prop swaps, computer changes and testing.

Also you are talking the old Bravo lower case wth the 600s since the Sportmaster did not exist back then. A shortee Sportmaster would be very interesting.

Merc warranties the 600s with the Bravos. You sure can play with pulleys and computers to give you what you want if ou are inclined. Of course only after the factor warranty period.

The 600s and the 700s sans the drives are damn near the same engine with just a little different tweaking. No 'old school' technology in either.

The upgrade cost isn't that much on the 600s and I think it would make for an interesting package.
