I am hoping that they will hang a couple of bikini stings if you get my drift...:party-smiley-004: |

Hey I just did a aluminum panel for myself using Kandy paint over the panel. You can still the sanding, grinding, whatever marks you decide in it but they are colored. You might do something like that.

I am not sure what i am going to do now. I went to the coating guys today and i am not satisfied with the Clear anodize, it dulls out the finish. I may just paint in the letters and clear them. What do yall think? I am going to leave them the way they are until after the show.. |

Sorry I didn’t get this up last night, to many martini’s. This is in red but you would want to do one of the colors of your boat, if they are using candy you could just get the paint code and match it. What I have done here is use a grinding wheel to put the marks in it, you can experiment and do what ever pattern you like, it will show through the color. This panel also has another small thing that makes it pop depending on the light, House of Kolor makes what they call ICE pearl in different colors. It is a little bigger then pearl powder but not as big as metal flake. Instead of putting it over the base color like most I mix it into the candy color. It is more subtle when you do that but because it is a bigger flake then pearl, in the right light it will just really show up. This panel has some ICE blue mixed into the red. I hope you can see how the candy has different shades and you can see the grind marks, not all the time though. On curved items like you have it really will look cool. It’s really hard to get how deep this looks to show up in pictures, if you are new to painting you will want to spray some test parts, and remember you build candy color up slow, and how deep it looks depends on how many coats. What you see with candy is the light showing through the color and reflecting off of the base, in this case the aluminum. |
Forgot, I just sanded and cleaned the panels then used Bull Dog promoter on it, for something that see's a lot of sun you may want to use a aluminum prep. Try first, not sure if it would shift the color or not.

Incredible paint guys. I was at Jeff's today and saw a few other interesting details about this rig. It is going to really be an amazing ride. It is definately setting the standar a lot higher for rigging and layout. Congrats on a masterpiece. :coolcowboy:

Jeff, How much extra would it have been for a steering wheel or do you just steer with that new joy-stick system from Mercury Racing? Slap that windshield on get-r-wet, looks incredible! Love the interior, maybe I should switch to blue graphics, would that be a problem Pat? :grinser010: Steve
