Wind in your face...

25 AT Tantrum 98. Any ideas to get the wind out of your face? Wind deflectors, visers, etc?

Sydwayz 08-10-2010 03:43 PM

I think we have some of the wind deflectors at the factory. Do you want two or three of them?

I believe I have the ones on my Tantrum that Brian describes, they appear to be metal, painted white, flip up automatically at about 45mph and really make a difference.

scope1407 08-11-2010 06:42 AM

I actually have 2 of those, the previous owner gave them to me. Can you tell me where they mount and how to mount them? I heard you should use glue and not screws? I'm afraid of covering up the purple THUNDER sticker on the ferring...

You can see the wind screen the previous owner put on my boat.. I`m 6'1" it doesn`t really do anything unless I scootch way down in the seat.. so I just wear goggles and ear plugs:drink:

Did A/T only make Tantrums in '98? We all have 98's

JohnAT 08-13-2010 08:52 AM

Mine is a 97, my brother ordered it new. Still in the family.

Damn thought that would block some wind, was gonna do the same to mine this winter with some white lexan....but on the other hand it has contributed to some topless moments for my passengers:drink:

Mine is also a '97

JohnAT 08-13-2010 12:59 PM

My brother found bikini top ejection is at 77mph and above. When a new gal gets on the boat for the first time we recomend she sit in front to get the better view. Little does she now that we will be getting the better view. :ernaehrung004:

I love these and have personally tested them to over 85 mph. Kiss them good-bye if you stuff it though:eek:.

Not cheesy at all IMO. They are almost invisible and mine are only on about a quarter of the time. The wind feels good on a hot day.

My Addiction 08-14-2010 12:03 AM

Alright, here's what I have on mine. A previous owner installed them. At first I laughed too... but they work great, clean look, and easy, fast install and removal. when they are clean you or "they" can't tell they're there.

I thought my boat was white:party-smiley-004:

ICDEDPPL 08-16-2010 08:01 PM

Third that actually looks pretty good.. I was thinking it would not look good on mine since it would be on top of the wind screen.. wind screen on top of windscreen?/ cheeesy lol

R Addiction 08-19-2010 09:27 PM

:cool:I love the wind in my face, I'm 5'9" and we've owned our Tantrum since we had it built in '99. My personal opinion is I don't want anything taking away from the lines of our boat.

You have a sink in your cabin?

I agree wind sreen is for night riding(bugs) and cold days in late fall, early spring.

R Addiction 08-20-2010 08:23 AM

Yes I do.

Exactly! Here in the north I stretch the boating season into October. My deflectors go on for cool weather, sometimes for long, fast cruises and often for lady guests. Usually they are stowed away under the bow in pillow cases!

laszlo01 08-20-2010 09:32 AM

Try a pair of these, work great. http://www.amazon.com/Skydiving-Peri.../dp/B0024J573A

VtSteve 09-07-2010 06:26 PM

I see the 28' on the AT site has a full width windscreen. Does this one actually work?

OCDACTIVE 09-11-2010 08:22 PM

I have 3 deflectors on my 1999 28' AT.. Not a fan!!

Will be taking them off an putting on a windshield this year....

Will sell to anyone who wants them.

Craney 09-12-2010 07:12 AM

I have a pair of flip up's for sale if anybody is looking.

R Addiction 12-03-2010 09:14 PM

JohnAT, Wife and I just got back from dinner with the first "victim" of the Bikini top ejection. Gotta love that "standard" feature.

77mph!? What power do you have in your Tantrum?

JohnAT 12-04-2010 01:23 PM

R Addiction, I was running a 540, est. power between 625 and 650. with two people and full of fuel it would run 82 to 83 all day, the best we got out of it was 85 with two people and half a tank. Near the end of the season I had the misfortune of getting some bad fuel, I thought I was buying 93, NOT ! It was detonating and it got wounded. So for this year it will have a 598, I got it off the dyno a last week. It made 810 HP @ 5700, 790 TQ @ 4800. I got a little carried away with what was to be a fix and freshen up, now I need to get the drive to Mr Gadgets.

This should be interesting.:cool-smiley-011:

ICDEDPPL 12-04-2010 06:17 PM

810hp !? That bravo is going to last about 10 min lol :party-smiley-004:

I wouldn`t consider anything less than a SCX

What speed did your bikini ejection happen at? Your boat?

R Addiction 12-05-2010 08:03 AM

At about 60-65 coming across the bay! She started yelling my tops coming off, and was letting go of the grab handle to keep her top on. I said hold onto the handle! (of course):evilb:

LOL! Wife woudn't take any or give me the camera!:angry-smiley-038:

JohnAT 12-05-2010 04:40 PM

The first time this happened was about ten years ago.
Three young gals wanted to go for a ride. We were just hangin out with some friends, so why not. Two of them
were in the back, the other one stood between the bolsters.
She was late 20's, big rack. They all said they liked going
fast, OK here we go, my brother starts running it up when
I notice something flapping to my right I look over at the same time as my brother, there she is getting motor boated
by her bikini top. we slow down a little to let her gather her
self back together. She is laughing her head off, she gets all
tied up and says try it again I tied it tighter. OK away we go
same thing 77 and bingo, funbags are out again. She did not
care at all, come to find out she had just recently gotten bolt ons. She was very proud of them, as were we !! It gets better
the other two were *****ing about having to slow down just as we were getting to speed, so one of them traded places
with her, OH YEAH it worked again, we could not talk the third one in to it. She thought it was a set up.
I wonder how much R&D time Pat had into this standard
feature ? Thanks Pat !!!!:ernaehrung004:

R Addiction 12-05-2010 06:54 PM

I just looked at my build sheet, nothing on there about it on there. Must come standard! Thanks Pat!

Gladhe8er 12-05-2010 07:34 PM

As hard as I try to "bounce off" bikini tops...it just doesn't happen in my AT....too smooth of a ride. My old 21 Checkmate...totally different story there!

R Addiction 12-05-2010 07:39 PM

Its not a ride issue Pete, its a Tantrum anomoly. The wind over the foredeck creates a vortex that backs out the boobs while running along at a good clip.:Score-101010:

R Addiction 12-05-2010 07:47 PM

And some people wonder why I've had my Tantrum for 11 years, 5 months and 24 days:party-smiley-004:

Oh...makes sense now! Maybe we should trade:evilb:

R Addiction 12-05-2010 08:33 PM

LOL! I'm going to install a small camera facing back!
