Drive Hight

Hey guys, I am trying to get some info on drive hight. I have a tantrum and I just redid the transum. So I have a clean slate if I want to raise my drive. I talk to different people and of course get different answers from everybody. The new engine came of the dyno tuesday. If anyone knows of somebody that has played around with x dimentions on this boat, I could use some help. Thanks Jon

There is no answer to your question as I told you.

Gonna be based on HP, drive type and if you want to break into the wallet for a prop.

What did Imco say?

Thanks for the response. The Engine came off the dyno at 927 hp at 5800. 830 ft lbs of tourque at 5000. Im using a b max upper with a std bravo lower. It is a std 22 inch. And as far as the prop goes, I have to buy a new one any way!

If it is standard as in smaller diameter prop shaft you better by two props.....

LOL...true.

I have the large prop shaft. The thing is before I cut the back of the boat, should I raise the motor.

How deep are you now? I'm @ 4.5" below & the boat planes fine but blows out turning sharply. Not the same boat i understand but I would raise the engine for sure. You can always play with spacers later to find the sweet spot.

Cut it at 20" Space from there. At 20" with the right 5 blade you are ok. Biggest problem is if your right arm is not connected to your brain combined with seas and horsepower you will never enjoy a good day on the water.

I would detune if you are not on a flat lake or river, drop it 2" and use a four blade with a different gear ratio.

If you think going 100 mph in a 25 foot boat is a good idea, I have to question why.

ok, sound good. Now for the million dollar question, what is the correct way of measuring. I have heard like 3 different ways. I guess the boat builder would know best! Thanks

WOW... thats a lot of HP, blown I assume? :worthless_without_p motor. transom. bilge.

A quote I pulled from one of my old threads(Gordo)
"APBA measured ours at the transom from the centerline(crankshaft/pivot pin centerline) down to the lowest point of the keel. The max allowed by rules was 19.5" which is where mine should be"

unless I'm doing something wrong, I only have 16 in. If I measure from crank to keel, down the back of the boat.

I love how you read a whole thread and it ends abruptly! :throw

I'm probably not going to make that run but I might be at Red Eye's for lunch that day:party-smiley-004:. I have been tryig to set up a day on the Bay and that looks like the date I might end up with. We will be going out of Shadyside, south of the bridge.
