Thunder Run 2012
 

At the risk of being compared to OCD and his James countdown, I just want to through this out and get a feel for your thoughts on a run. I know it's early but some need to plan there winter trips.

Melinda and I would love to make it, have wanted to for years and this year may finally be the one.
Here is my problem SNOW, there is no way I am able to pull out and return to northern michigan in the winter. Can't get it out of storage or put it back in because of SNOW.
Anyone have a solution to my problem? we are talking about a november to april problem depending on what mother nature brings this year.

Tow it down to Mike's place in Indianapolis and leave it there for the winter. Then take it down to FL for the run. There are a couple fairgrounds in NW Indiana that do winter storage as well.

yea would like to stay away from the fairgrounds unless i up insurance.

I just might have the answer. I think im going to keep my storage unit at Cumberland and my boat will be here in the heat

Hey guys, where is Thunder Run held. I'd like to do a winter get away, I just cant find any info on line.

We typically run from Pompano Beach down to someplace in the Keys for a long weekend

I've been looking around for some place that we haven't been and came up with Coral Lagoon in Marathon. Take a look at that place and tell me what you think.

It appears as though they have deep water, which is nice.

What type of winter activities do they offer? I didn't see anything mentioned about snowblower competition, icicle toss, or guess the windchill. What else would there be to do in January, seems weird!

Well, it's been another summer of limited boating with the project under way. We're starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel, the next 6 weeks are some of the best boating around here, cooler temps and rougher seas! I love fall, hoping to make up for some lost boating opportunities. I hope you guys on the east coast come out of this hurricane without major damage. A Floida trip sounds like fun, let's start making plans! We can make OCD the official clock to trip time! :lolhit:

I like the two and three bedroom idea. I think it looks as good as Hawks Cay at about half the cost. We could go back to the Marriot in Largo but I just thought it would be nice to try something new.

Do you have a count of boats going?

No I don't but it would be nice to try to get a count before long and we can get this thing planned. I will talk to the place when I get home from the lake and get a feel for there ability to handle our crowd.

Coral lagoon is a great place. Our daughter stayed there last summer with her boyfriends family and everyone loved it and could not find one thing wrong with it and you just can't beat the prices.

If I go, will Jack be there buying drinks for everyone at the bar? Can I count on Frankie and Wilma? Will there be rental transportation to get 7 drunk people in a van to Key West? Once I am in Key West, will Jack be their buying drinks at Irish Kevins...

Unfortunately, I won't make it this year. Expecting number two on Jan 17. That combined with my business taking all of my time in a good way, I have little time to play for the next few months.

I talked to them today and I just might have found a problem, they have no food or drink on the property. I understand it is a cab ride to either and I just think ,knowing our crew as I do, that this would be an issue. :drink:
Thoughts?

Bring it with you? Small grills, steaks burgers, chicken.....and alot of beer and booze! Imagine the ride home will be much faster.

Problem solved. I agree. If we all have condos we all have kitchens and a common areas to burn some beef and lobster tails.

You guys bring those jello things that destroy everybody!
