would love to hear if the new 29 would allow for two big blocks in the back.. That would FLY!

No problem.. Sounds to be a GREAT boat.. I am very envious. It is the perfect size for my lake and dock. If I were to step up in the future this is the perfect size.

Just wondering, sorry to harp on it, IF twin 496's were requested, could it be done? I realize it is not initially being built for this set up but would the size of the engine compartment and beam of the boat overall accomodate them?

Will give me motivation at work! :drink:

No. Mercury stopped building them 2 years ago.

I'm just guessing, but I would bet that twin BBC's would throw the Center of Gravity way out wack and it wouldn't ride on the step as it was designed.

OCDACTIVE 12-15-2011 12:54 PM

Thanks Griff.. I had thought of that as well. Would be interested to hear what Pat thinks.

REMEDY 12-15-2011 01:55 PM

Not available from Merc but twin LS series small blocks would be the ticket!! 427 or 454 cubic inches, all aluminum smallblock engine with big block power and torque. Easy 650 power at around a liveable 6000-6500 rpm. 550 power around 5200. Closed cooling for long life. I'm working on a project with an LS7 427 in a smaller boat. Half the weight of a big block.

That is what I was talking about when I posted the ILMOR LS pictures, that would be a nice little package.

I have thought of it for my 28 fountain,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yeah the ls engine is a great piece!! Wave of the future. I looked at 30 Skater with a pair of LS7's last year on one of the Ft. Myers fun runs. Very nice. I didn't know Ilmor was doing an LS package. I'm doing one with a single plane manifold throttle body on top, port fuel injection on a mefi 4 controller. Just gettin started on it.

Twin 5.7 = 640 hp and the weight would be 2024 lbs.

Griff, Remedy, Pat...... would that work????

Sorry, only single IO or twin OBs. It's not a CG thing. It's simply a business decision.

fatherb68 12-16-2011 11:32 PM

In that case, put a new 1350 in it! Just kidding (not). Whats more reliable than a HP500 with a whipple, and an xr drive

R Addiction 12-17-2011 07:57 AM

Thanks for this thread Pat, this is the kind of stuff that gets us frozen northerners thru the winter. Pictures would be a plus;)

I was wondering why we have not seen any images. I know there is an artist rendering out there. Let's see it! :grinser010:

mikefili 01-10-2012 08:57 PM

Hey Pat, isn't your daughter's name Lexi? why not just name it after her, Active Thunder 29 Lxi. that would be my vote. Someone said to name it after the boss, then it would be the 29 Dianne. I think I need to come over tomorrow to check it out.
Michael

cosmic12 01-15-2012 07:41 AM

So whats up with this? Pulled it out yet?

jafo 01-21-2012 06:06 PM

Hi Pat and all....Long time since I've posted, but I still check in and read from time to time.
It's nice to see a new model coming out, especially in a size of AT I'm kinda familiar with.....;)
I'd love to see an artist's rendering as well, and I think including your daughter's name in the boat model name would be a great idea. There were some good ideas thrown out so far-

" 29 Interceptor Lxi" has a nice ring to it.
Jim

Here's the engine that this boat needs. 570 horsepower, based on the LSx block, but lots of ILMOR parts. $2,000 less and hundreds of pounds lighter than a 525. Available in July in your choice of seven colors. This one is in "R'Addiction Green".

R Addiction 02-23-2012 02:42 PM

That would be nice!

Delayed at FLL til 5:30 or 6 YAY!:daz:

Looked pretty sweet for open bow, reminded me of my nitro......it had red&silver stripes if i remember....the silver had a heavy metallic like a bass boat.

Not deep enough for me, not much of a deadrise angle for my lake.....like my 24* deadrise...but it was nice to see something performance again at our show.

R Addiction 02-28-2012 09:10 AM

So anything new with the 29DDC? I was at the factory and saw nothing other than a trio of 37's..........Hidden location?

cosmic12 03-05-2012 03:47 PM

Sad but true... I was a victim of "boat length false advertising" on my last boat. This hits very close to home for me....:lolhit:
