More savage questions?...Pat?
I was day dreaming again about these great boats! I recently did the NIOC Thunder Run where Abmotorman showed up again with 1 of the 3 twin Savages, unfortunately I was too busy keeping myself hydrated with liquid refreshment to go check out that awesome boat...again.
It got me wondering...Is the savage better balanced with twins or a single? What kind of power would it take from a single to be knocking on the 90's and also 100? Lastly, as stated above, I don't know if it is balanced better or not with twins, but in my head I think twin 377 scorpions in this hull would kick ass!!! Put some xr's behind it and have a fast, bulletproof boat! What kind of numbers do you think the scorpions would do? This is just purely for enjoyment and conversation...thanks in advance from anyone!!! |

700 hp will get you 86-88 mph.

We are running 800+ and run mid 80's any time.

You want a single BBC in the 28 nowadays. Back in the day when "exotic" BBC power was anything >500HP; a pair of SBC was nice.
|
What kind of drives are ya'll running with big single power in 28ft and how do they hold up?

If I remember correctly the purple twin 28 Savage had 377 Scorpions....the boat went to Lake Winnnipesaukee to the same owner who has the only tripple engine AT 36 V bottom..

I have to say though...that size boat and where I boat, I really don't need twins. It would be really nice for the piece of mind of twins if I was on Lake Michigan more, but right now I would prefer a Savage with a single....until I can find/afford a 33. If I am going to have to maintain double everything, I want it to really need it. I am not saying 2 engines and drives is a pain, it just seems like a 28 is just fine with a single. Thats is probably why the majority were built with singles. |

Now you can fantisize about twins! Personally that has been a life-long fantasy of mine. |
