Stories?
I dont know where you guys are getting your info!!! I am a small Active Thunder dealer in Ohio,(selling on sold order only)and Active Thunder still build its full product line.Including the 28v and the 32 cat. With the exception of the Sport Fish(which if you wanted one they would still build you one if forced).I currently have 2 new 28AVH boats on order, which are now under construction.1with a 496mag and 1 with a 500efi.So you guys may want to get your info from Pat himself.

If you read my reply to 'do the math's' post, it states they did not build many twins. I never stated they would not build you a 28 Savage if you wanted one. As to where my info comes from on AT, it does come from Pat and Steve. I talk to them on a somewhat regular basis.- I bought my boat from them, and as last I heard on this topic (when I picked my boat up in Pompano late April), they were concentrating on the 37AVH, due to its backlog and high level of interest and sales. BTW, my 28 Savage (or any other I have seen) is not an AVH hull, and I am not aware of any changes to the mold to make it one. It certainly would be an interesting 28 if Harry Schoell were to get involved with it, but I like my conventional V-bottom just fine! |
Al,
How are things in OH? My wife and I went to the Active Thunder factory 4 weeks ago to look at a 32. Steve told us to go look at Powerplay, Cigarette and Sonic because He did not want to build anthing smaller than the 37. I was really shocked and disappointed because the 25, 28 and 32 are really incredible boats. |
Ouch...
My feeling (or my hope...) would be that if they still have the molds and you give them enough time, they would build a 28 or 32. I'm looking at next season at the earliest for delivery, so I think I can give them about 12 mo. or more on the project. I guess I can talk to Steve and Pat about it and see what their feeling is on it. I really feel that there is not another 28 out there right now that can compare to AT's for the (real) size, perfomance, look and custom build quality...
|
DoTheMath,
What about the Sonic 28? I just traded my 26 Sonic and it was a great boat. Nice cabin, lots of freeboard, etc. |
That's a possibility...
but I was really trying to stay with a low-volume builder. I do like the looks of the Sonic, (similar to the AT) but wanted to be a little different and get something that you don't see every day, like a Fountain for example... (Sorry to all you Fountain owners reading this...) What did you trade to and did you go through Silver Sands?
|
I am certain that if you call Pat-954-782-0309 he will gladly build you a 28.......
|
That was my thought too. Of course, my feeling on the 28 being "the best of all worlds" for our lake is now getting skewed by all the other AT's that are coming out recently. There is something about a 37' with a full cabin and all the goodies to go with it running 100+ on 675's that makes me want to build that bigger dock, not worry about the slips at the local watering holes and go for something bigger... But, one step at at time. Going from the cost of a 28 to the cost of a 37 with the wife, (and my accountant) would be tough...
Best of luck Dan with your new ride, the pics looks great, the numbers are awesome, and to top it all off, your wife likes it... What more could you ask for... except maybe a 42 !? ;) ~Mark. |
DoTheMath,
Traded the Sonic for a 33 Outlaw with HP500s from Channel. Getting it this Thursday. I too can't imagine AT not building you a 28. I talked with Steve last year, about a 28, and it wasn't a problem then. |
Very true Bajadude... They guys at Channel are great to work with, you can't go wrong there! The 500hp's should push that along pretty well. Now, my question to you is how or what did you use to tame the noise on the 500's? I got tossed two summers ago for being too loud with a single 540 (it was loud...) so I am looking to see what different people are doing up on the lake to keep the MP's off their backs...
|
Do The Math,
Have you called AT yet? Will they build a 28 for you?? Like I stated earlier I was just at the factory a month ago and Steve sent me out to look at other manufactures. I guess I don't understand??? I looked at allot of boats before I bouhgt my 28 AT, nothing else compared in my book. I think thats great they are building all the 37's they can handle! However, I would like to think Active Thunder will continue to build 25, 28, and 32 foot boats as well. |
I actually just contacted them yesterday and Steve sent me an e-mail saying that the info I wanted was in the mail, and to call him when I got a chance. I requested info on the 28, and didn't get any negative feedback from him... So, I hope that all is still good and they will still build me one, provided I give them the time to do so. I gave Formula almost a year to buld my 271, (and they screwed that up), so I think that a nice, low-volume custom builder is going to be the way to go.... And the AT 28 is just soooo sweet looking, (as is the whole line for that matter).
|
DoTheMath,
Yeah, Channel's very good to deal with. This is my 3rd Baja with them. It was a little tough in the beginning with the new owners, but everything seems to have gotten back to "normal". The 33s got Quick and Quiets. I've had them in 3 other boats so far and no problems with the MP. They are definitely cracking down. Where are you on the lake? |
Bajadude~
I was very friendly with the Littlefields when they owned it, they were (and still are) great people. I heard that the new owners are doing the place proud (now) and keeping up the tradition of good service. I did hear that it was a bit "bumpy" in the beginning with them. It can't be easy going from computers to the marina business. So, you have the Y-Pipe with the tips, some out the transom and some out the drives... Sounds like a plan to me. I am just outside of Center Harbor on First Neck, How about yourself? |

I hope I didn't come across as being rude in that last post. If I did, I didn't mean to!!!
Tracy:D |
I was very friendly with the Littlefields The new owners seem to have gotten things dialed in, and were fortunate to keep most the supporting staff. It was a little bumpy as you say in the beginning (part of the reason I got rid of my 25 Outlaw and got the Sonic) but I can't resit Jim P's sales pitches;). I really enjoy doing business there. Anyway, sorry to divert the thread. |
BD~
He was always big on the hot rods, (loved his purple one) but really had a thing for Jr's Nova, bad-bad machine! Glad to hear they are bringing customers back, Jim P. always knew to "do the right thing". Consintracy~ "So..., you're telling me is there's a chance..." (remember that line from Dumb & Dumber?) Sorry, anyway... So if I was real patient, asked nicely and told him that you guys sent me would that help my chances any ;) ? I'll just wait and see what happens, Steve is sending me up some info and with all the time I've been spending here and with work, I just haven't had the chance to call them... hehe. I'll work on that over the next day or two. |
DTM,
That Nova was the balls. I'll have to ask Billy if he's still got it (I'm renting one of his boat houses). |
For those interested parties. The 28AVH is a new DDC bottom that will be introduced at the Cleveland Boat Show in January 2002.The 2 sold models that I have on order will be there. The Cleveland show was where Active Thunder officially introduced the 37AVH.So plan to attend for they will be the life of the show. For those interested in mid-sized offshore boats.

I'll bet Pat gets a fricken' kick out of this sh!t!!!:D
|
What in the hell are you guys talkin about:rolleyes:
|
Jassman~ I know what you mean...This post has changed course from it's original topic. I have no idea what this is all about. I'm gonna go back to listening to the radio...man, I haven't heard this song in forever. Remember this one from the 80's..."And what about the one, about Tina....some say she's just a tease...la da da da da da da da and she'll be on her knee's...some talkin' rumors...la da da da da da.":D
|
Well, to bring everyone back around and square things a bit here... I talked with Steve yesterday about 4pm EST (or at least a guy that said he was Steve ;) ) and this is what I found out. They will build a 28 or a 32 if you are serious about it, you will just need to give them some time to do so (read: spring '03 delivery if ordered now). They are concentrating on the 37's right now because of the demand and back log that they are dealing with. Based on the information that I was given yesterday, the 28 is NOT a stepped-bottom boat, he said that is a conventional V. This was all straight from the "horses mouth" so-to-speak... So, having never talked to Steve before, it could have been someone else (I suppose) but in any event, that was what I was told. I hope this clears vs. clouds the waters on this... All I'm hoping for is an AT 28' with a pair of small blocks in the not too distant future, "is that so wrooooong...?" :D
|
Do the Math~ Are you planning on getting a new one built? Cause, I know of someone who has a (pretty much) new one and I think they are looking to sell it.
Tracy |
Consintracy~ That was my original thought, yeah... To go new. I have a thing about new vs. used (just a quirk I guess) but I would always consider looking at used if the owner was as anal as I am about their stuff. If you have any info, or they want to e-mail me they can reach me at [email protected]. Thanks...
~Mark. |
I would think that AT is not building the 28 anymore because the one I had built had some problems that was caused by the mold. My boat did not come out that great! We did find some imperfections in the 28 mold - don't know if it was corrected?
|
Mark~ I'm trying to think of the guy's name...his wife's name is Rhonda...they live in Cape Coral...he actually told Pat to keep the boat after he built it (even though he'd already paid Pat for the boat). He just wants a bigger boat. Pat took the boat to Key Largo when we went last yr. for the Columbus Day wknd. I know I have a pic. around here somewhere. It's a nice looking boat!!!!
I'll try to find the pic. Tracy |
Tracy~ Sounds good to me, always worth a look. That's kind of a bummer, all set and ready to go and wham!, he's ready for a bigger boat... I guess it's that disease you get once you buy a performance boat, always "jonesing" for more. Maybe the secret is just to buy big from the get go and be done with it!?:p Thanks for looking, if you find it and can send it digitally, you can send it to [email protected].
~Mark. |
Mark~ You've got mail
|
Hehe, yeah... If I didn't mess up the address I would... :( Try this one [email protected] ( I had swapped the "h" & "a" so it will prob. get kicked back to you...) Sorry about that, my bad!
~mmg. |
Ooooh lordy...Hold on...LOL
|
I know, I know... Sorry... I work with software all day, you'd think I could get a lousy e-mail address right...:p Thanks for resending!
|
Ok....My bad...I just became aware that it's a 25'...I'm soooo sorry!!!
|
Well, for starters I got the pics, so thanks very much. :D But from what I can see it looks like it has twins, in which case it would be a 28', no? Either that or my eyes are playing tricks on me and that is one big 25'.... are you sure it's a 25? ;)
|
I just found out that that is Jafo's 28'!!! Which, is not for sale.
And the one in Cape Coral is a 25' which, I believe is for sale....LOL...I am soooo sorry!!! Well, one good thing...I learned how to do some stuff on the pc!!! Dumb Blonde Tracy:rolleyes: |
1 Attachment(s)
For everyone...Here's one of the pic's...I think the guy from Cape Coral might have a classified on OSO for his boat though. This 28' isn't for sale.
|
...and that was the first thing that I thought, 'cuz I had been swapping info with him the last few days and all... And then I figured being fairly new to posting on this board, (but a long time "lurker") I'd let it go. Not a big deal, I figure that if I get frustrated enough with trying to chase down a 28, I might just build a bigger dock and grab one of the 32's I've seen on AT's site for sale, what's 4 more feet, right!? I remember seeing a really nice 32, had a yellow paint scheme, hmmmm... what was that guys name again??? :D
Jafo~ Tracy is trying to sell your boat, bet you didn't know it was for sale, huh!?!? hehe... Thanks guys, I have got to get myself into the AT family... ~Mark. |
Nice looking boats. Where were those pictures taken?
|
Tracy,
Nice Picture of the boats in the water!! Post more if you got 'em. |
