Cult

It seems as though I've found small home here on the AT forum, I feel as though I fit best with this clique of human beings. I've friended some on Facebook (Pete, Scott), even one on LinkedIn (Scott, great professional networking website). With all of the new marine technology coming out in recent months I find myself wondeing what everyone thinks about the new 565 BB from Mercury Racing? Has any tested it out? Any positive or negative results? Regardless, I appreciate how open and welcoming this board has been, some aren't as much to youngsters like myself, thanks'.

There have been a few threads on them in the General Discussion. BLee has them in his new 2012 90+mph Top Gun. "Some" of them were "recalled" early in the summer. There's a thread about it.

Our Merc reps/friends have been singing their praises, and we like that. I anticipate seeing some 565 action in an AT hull in the near future.

There have been some impressive results with that engine in the 29 OL and 24 Nordic cat. Not the prettiest engine, but it seems to be a stout performer.

With the proven track record the 525 has I see no reason this motor will be anything short of awesome

After seeing a few in person now (29 OL, 400SS Formula) I don't hate the look of them as much as I did in pics when they first debuted.

I dont think ther bad looking and you can choose from 11 colors, as for the 565hp that is about the same as the 525 as they are in the 560 hp range.

More HP and torque like a 600. Direct conversation with Kevin Skiba at Hi-perf and Brad Halpin my local rep. I'm putting them in a new 37 so will know everything there is soon. One thing however, DTS or fly by wire only. No more hard shifts or unsynced engines! (so I am told)

Im sure it will be a good package but the power isnt what you think it is.... The 525 is 502 cubic inches. The 565 is 532 cubic inches. The power per cubic inch is the same. Do the math. So they didnt do anything to make it more efficient. Same manifold, they blocked the front and put 2 throttle bodies on top. It has the new ecu the 1100/1350 has. So of course no one can get into it. The electronic shift and drive by wire is nice. Until you need to buy parts. Again it is a nice step up without a blower but they could have done more.
