We still have the Factory Demo boat from the Miami Boat Show.
All red with tan interior; 565EFIs, 30 hours or so.
Nicely optioned, everything but the generator which could be added.
Full Mercury Warranty on power/drives and Lifetime Warranty on the hull for the original owner. (boat has never been titled)
$285K out the door. Not pressed to sell it, but let's talk.
(tan graphics are just vinyl)

I think that boat needs a black bottom instead of white maybe?

Pwraddr 06-09-2014 08:34 PM

What's your budget?

Drock78 06-09-2014 08:48 PM

Can paint it any color the new owner wants.

Ha! I thought I recognized that boat on Facedork! Congrats on the sale Steve!

And good luck on your search! You'll love the 37!

sommerfliesby 06-10-2014 06:56 AM

Maybe you should buy mine so I can go buy the 565 boat?

Sonic Steve 06-10-2014 09:14 AM

Thanks guys!
The factory boat is extremely nice but just not in our budget, we were looking to spend less than half of the that.
We didn't get much info on the sale of our boat on who bought it or where it went but we certainly will miss it.
We have been looking at a boat in Michigan but before we pull the trigger wanted to explore all possibilities.

There is one listed on Boat Trader, but not sure if it sold or not. It was owned by Craig Cornell; and when we chatted in February he was looking to move up to a large cat.

It's this boat, but the OSO Classified is no longer active.

If Mike aka sommerfliesby is serious about selling his red/black 37AT so he can buy the red Factory boat; that would be a sweet deal for both of you.

Yup, I helped him get the radar and canvas back in it when he arrived Friday night. Spent a few hours on it with him.

Looked like a nice boat and I liked the stereo system!

As much as I'd love to make this happen and bring the 565 boat home...I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now! Well...other than the fact that I'll be in the bilge rebuilding a fuel pump tomorrow...

How much faster is the 565 boat over the 525's

I would guess 2 or 3. It's not a huge jump in HP and you are pushing a lot of boat. I feel they are a little more torquey, if that is a word, Definite quicker when you push the throttles down in the midranges.

The acceleration of the 565 over the 525 boat feels like a blower motor; IME.

Sonic Steve: You're going from one of my favorite boats to one of my favorite boats. Would you share your reasoning for making the move from the 400SS to the 37AT? That info may be very helpful in the future.

We have had go fast boat most of the years including 3 Sonics ( hence the name). My father had a Cruisers yacht 4270 in which we had been boating with him for years, I always liked the 400ss and at the time it made a lot of sence to get a slip and spend more time with him while he was still boating, I was certainly was not ready to give up the speed and coming out of a go fast the Formula gave us that option. We had the 400 for about 5 years and really enjoyed it including of our go fast friends, it was a place to hang out when we got back to the dock.
Since then my father has retired and decided to sell his boat. My wife and I then chose to put ours on the market and get back to trailering where we can do the tour and weekend on different lakes. We will definatly miss the 400 and it's amenities but for now we are opening up a different chapter in our lives.

The Active Thunder is one of a few boats that offer a nice size cabin and performance that fit out needs unfortunately there are not many on the market in our price range or in any price for that matter. So we will probably end up in something else that have the amenities to weekend on the boat.

I went from a 400 SS to my 39 Cigarette....I wanted something I could trailer and do florida in winters..last 2 winters have been amazing... I wanted to explore different runs lakes locations etc...

Good luck in ur search Steve... By ur statement above we had a lot of the same thinking.

I talked to him couple of months ago, I have no idea if it is still available but I had my concerns.

I never called, I wanted one with the liner.

I'd have no concerns on that boat. The non-liner cabin is different; but not terrible. I have not ridden on that particular boat; but Stealin' Thunder was the best riding 37' AT I've ever been on; and it too was built with no-liner. Stealin' Thunder was built VERY heavy compared with some of the boats. Monsoon, my boat, has a light layup. It's definitely a little looser than Stealin' Thunder.

bonesmalon 06-11-2014 08:35 PM

As far as ammenities go its a hard boat to beat. I guess if I had a money tree my next boat would be a 43 Nor-tech for its additional headroom and the extra 6 for for rough stuff.

I don't even know the boat to have concerns. I'm saying that once you explained why some had the support entering the v berth and the liner boats didn't I wanted the liner boat. My wife likes it because it feels more open. We overnight a dozen or so nights a summer.

Again, I have no issue with that boat and wish the seller well.

ALL of them have the same bulkhead you are referencing. The liner boats are a little smaller in that area because the liner has to be fitted around the bullhead when dropped in.
The biggest difference is aesthetics; no structural difference although pending options--one could be heavier than the other.

I guess we are talking about 2 different things then. Macklins old boat and also the boat you reference have no liner and have the support across the top. My boat as well as others with a liner do not.

Most importantly, again, I am not saying that one is better than the other. My wife is happy, I got a new toy.....life is good!

Pics below, Macklins old boat and mine.

Lately I'd agree. The wind has been the biggest issue though. And we know what that means on Lake Michigan.
