Though Pat is correct :D this is a group of Active Thunder owners getting together.

ActiveThunder 02-27-2015 06:33 PM

Just had the owner of Gasparilla Marina, my old friend Michael W, stop at the shop. He is on top of our run Saturday up to Boca Grande. I think we should have a top shelf day at his place!

I so wish I could Pat and thanks for the invite but I have to much going in the shop to leave. Everyone wants their cars for spring and after this winter (if it ever gives up) I don't blame them. Gotta stay up here waiting for the sun.

Looks like Steve can represent the past owners.

Sydwayz 03-03-2015 12:56 PM

You guys are going to do something about the weather before we get there right?

Also, Shari, what are some of the destination potentials?
(And no, we are not going to Babies'R'Us! Congrats BTW!)

lol Thanks. Lots of trips to Babies R Us for us, but not next weekend!! :) Am hoping the newest AT cult member might be able to make an appearance!

Friday with everyone checking in and launching boats we figured we would hang out at the Westin and the Nauti Mermaid bar. The outdoor bar is great as are the bartenders. The food is pretty good too. This is just a suggestion. If everyone is there early and we want to do a late lunch/early dinner run there are options.

As for destinations, Pat has it worked out for Saturday. We are going to run up to Gasparilla Marina on Boca Grande.

Sunday is not set. There are several options. Marco Island (not my choice.. boring run and someone ALWAYS breaks! lol) Burnt Store Marina, Fisherman's Village at Punta Gorda. Tween Waters (although dock space here during season might be hard to come by) There are spots in Bonita Springs or Naples. We could take a run up around South Seas resort/marina and come back and go out to one of the spots behind Ft Myers Beach. There are a lot of options.

mrsattadj2 03-04-2015 08:31 AM

Boat launch / Trailer Info (I know the regulars will probably launch in the normal spot.. you know who you are! :) )

Thanks to Steve R for help with this!!

The closest launch to the Westin is:

Marian at Cape Harbour. The charge is $10.00, they have 2 ramps. Hours 7:30-4:30
5828 Cape Harbour Drive
Cape Coral FL 33914

They do have a parking lot but it is tight, especially if there are other trailers (It's season here. There will be other trailers)

Best option for parking trailers is to bring them over to the Westin. They have a big field south of the marina and there is plenty of space.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

I don't think we have ever used it. It's a bit tighter quarters as far as moving around and the ramp is shorter I believe, but it is fine. I think they launch a lot of Nor Tech's there...

I just gave the launch ramp closest to the hotel and shortest distance to take trailer back to the lot. There are several launch ramps in town. The one we like the most is actually a bit farther north on the river, I didn't give that one just because of the distance back to the hotel and trailer parking.

hmmmm well you can get there from here but with lunch and stops at Gilbert's for cocktails I don't think we would make it back before dark! lol

Here are a couple options for Sunday:

South
http://www.bonitabaymarina.net/ (Bonita Springs)
http://baysideseafoodgrillandbar.com (Naples) ** This one is in Venetian Village. There are actually a couple other restaurants here, so there are choices.
http://www.dockcraytoncove.com/ (Naples)
http://www.snookinn.com/ (Marco Island)
http://www.cjsonthebay.com/ (Marco Island) ** FMO group goes here about once a year.

North:
http://www.burntstoremarina.com/dining.htm (Charlotte Harbor)
http://www.fishville.com/ Punta Gorda

There are more choices. The ones I have listed are the ones I can think of that have the most docks.

If we do decide to go North again there are other routes so it would not be the same run. We can go inside, outside or the twisting turning back waters! or any combination.

Either direction is good. It's nice to have options! :)

I've spoken to a couple of the places, general questions. However,If we come to some kind of agreement on where we would like to go, and how many boats will make the run, I can call and see if it is possible to make reservations for dockage.

So, opinions? other suggestions?

509 SC 03-04-2015 09:04 PM

We went to the Dock in Naples last year, there was docking for about 2 boats there(but you could fender off), I didn't think it was that "fun" of a place. FWIW The only other place we've been is Burnt Store with FMO last year, which was fun, but it might have been the company!

R Addiction 03-04-2015 10:30 PM

Sounds like fun!
