Most folks don't finance the trailer anyhow.
You will need separate bills of sale for each to register in your state anyway.
Example:
Total agreed purchase price:$50,000
Boat $49,000
Trailer: $1000

If in a bind over the trailer, Look up Maine trailer registrations. Many people have done it this way as they make it not only simple (a few do online reg's) but cheap too.

edit: you can do a search on OSO for maine trailer registrations also....these threads come up time to time.

yeah, I went down that road too, and told them to leave the trailer off the lien for that reason, but they say they need it as a package in case of a repo, but that makes sense, I could pay cash for the trailer..

Maybe not the most cost effective but buy a POS trailer of preferably the same brand. Register it. Use that plate. If the VIN isn’t clear for anyone to read is it really gonna be a problem? I have a flat bed trailer and my boat trailer. NY wants 100 bucks a year for trailer registration per trailer. I just switch the plates!

Hi Guys,

Well I pulled the trigger and got the Tantrum I was dealing on from Tennessee!

It's a 1998 with 502 MAG, around 410 hours. Left Minnesota last Thursday and spent 4 days on the road to Tennessee and back.

Took it out for a sea trial, and was impressed, wow! coming from my little 19 ft. bow-rider is quite a jump..

Needs a little TLC, and cleaning, but is very solid overall, very impressed with the build quality.

P.S. I did get the trailer info, it was stuck in the back of the 3 ring binder the guy had for me.
