If I may ask.... What happened to your "old deck". Where there problems with the ship? Just keeping on top of any AT quality issues. Thanks.

Jeff, Thanks so much for the explanation, I feel so much better knowing that someone had to pay for your new deck.

As long as my 500 gets replaced with a 525, I've got no problem with that. Boat might run sidway's, but I could live with that:rolleyes: you know.....like the throttles.

Who in line is getting 525's that I could use..........Hmmmmmm, let's see.......oh yea, it's Stan:D

ToddW 11-27-2002 09:03 AM

Jeff,
Nobody told me I had to pay the other half:(

Kevin,
Thanks for the 500s, I'm sure Stan will understand you taking his 525s.:)

Happy Thanksgiving......and what a giving group this is. I'm paying for Jassy's new deck, Kevin giving me his 500s, Stan's 525s to Kevin,....and it's not even Christmas yet.

thunderdan 11-27-2002 09:14 AM

Wild Horses,

JJ still has the same deck, we are just having some fun with H20.

Of course Stan understands, he is taking my 675's. I feel sorry for the next guy in line wqho is building a boat, I think it is Massive Thunder. He is paying for some 900 hp motors for me and some pulse drives....:p :D :D :D Thanks Big Al, I appreciate it.

boatfreak 11-27-2002 01:17 PM

Hey guys while you are doing all this deck switching do you think the guys in the shop could put one of the old 37 decks on my 28. But then again I guess that would be like having a Fountain.:p :D

MassiveThunder 11-27-2002 02:00 PM

IM TELLING YOU 525'S + PULSE DRIVES=97MPH + RELIABILITY.BIG HP MOTORS + BRAVO DRIVES=SOMETIMES FAST+MOST OF THE TIME BROKEN!!

Jassman 11-27-2002 04:57 PM

Thats right Massive, stir that pot, I think 91 would be more like it.:p :D

MassiveThunder 11-30-2002 08:45 AM

Well I dont call it stirring the pot.And here is why.
The F-2 boat w/500 efi's runs 90.You should get a 5-7% increase in top end with the pulse drives. Not to mention the added hp of the 525's.97mph may be a bit of a stretch but 95mph should be an automatic.Lets also keep in mind that I am talking about a standard cabin boat.

h2owarrior 11-30-2002 01:09 PM

Hey Massive, is that a Pat 97 or a GPS 97

What about resale ? Also what is the cost difference ? You need tranny's with the pulse drive and those are not maintenance free and they will break under high horsepower high load operation.

imongo 12-01-2002 03:08 AM

Hi H2O,

The Pulse is taking over! I'm making the leap on my Cig (I'll get an AT as soon as I have the $$$). Just tired of dealing with Bravo. Too much **** to break with them. The only way the Pulse can effect resale (neg) is if someone wants to race the boat in a class that doesn't allow surface drives. Other than that, I should increase the resale because of durability.

Cost? About the same as Bravo 1's (I'm talking all of a Bravo 1, including transom assy, bellhousings, rams, etc.) Less than XR's.

Trannys break under high HP/load? Not if you put the right one on! Sure, anything breaks. I'll bet Massive and I go through 1 tranny between us in the same time you go through 10 or 15 Bravos. Oh, did I mention we won't be throttling the boat when it catches air? Try that with Bravo's! Maybe better up the number of Bravos to 20-30!

Hey Massive, when you get your boat together, I'll fly up and go for a ride with you. We can run with Jass and I'll hold up a chalk board with the GPS numbers. Sure, He'll be a little faster... But he has a few more ponies than you. Oh, and I'll help with the tow ropes for when his drives break!:D :D Oh, yeah. I forgot. These are Active Thunders. They plane well with one engine. Well, we'll go on ahead and chill some extra beer for his arrival! :p

I know... I'm a damm trouble maker!:D

 Not True. The general public will want Bravo's for ease of "servicability" and name recognition no matter how well they perform.

Jassman 12-01-2002 09:56 AM

Massive, That makes more sense. I believe with the Millenium cabins, generators, and the other items slow the boat down by 3 mph. What I dont understand is when I reserched the Pulses, and Harry did his calculations with my 675s he said 99-100. Dans did 102. Mine was 97 @5100rpms, 300 to go. I know they are more effecient, and I am one of the few who also believe they are stronger, and will be looking at them again for my next boat, they need to come up with something about the looks, other than paint, just my .02

Hey Mongo, I prefer Crown and Water, with a lemon:p :D

h2owarrior 12-01-2002 03:24 PM

I disagree with the resale. Maybe in a few years they will hold their value, but not in the next two or three.

You say the tranny's won't break if you buy the right size. Same thing holds true for a conventional out drive.

I also noticed that the drives kick up a huge rooster tail. That might be acceptable for the serious high performance boater, but for most this eliminates any possibility of doing anything else water sports wise with the boat; Tubing, skiing, etc. Unless, that is, there is some way to eliminate it.

I am sold on the drives performance and simplicity. I was involved with the Arneson Drive while Borg Warner produced them and the Pulse is a definite improvement on the surface drive. I just do not see this replacing the conventional outdrive in the near future due to the reasons I mentioned above.

Safety tip. Do not get behind a Pulse Drive equipped boat, they will wet you down.

And I'll beleive 97 with 525's when I see 85 on mine with 500's:D

MassiveThunder 12-02-2002 07:50 AM

All of the info that I have posted in reguards to the pulse drive has been based on info from Pat and Harry both. And keep in mind that they were factoring the weight of the extras on your boats.Which may have been a factor in there calculations.
As far as Kevins boat not even running 85.It is my understanding that Patrick hasnt had your boat out to dial it in yet. After owning 2-37's I can say that you should come real close to that. After it is dialed in.Keep smiling you still have a great boat!!

h2owarrior 12-02-2002 08:14 AM

:D :D :D :D

imongo 12-03-2002 06:11 AM

Hey H2O,

Resale better in a couple of years? That's OK for me. That is when I'll probably sell my Cig for an AT anyway! As more and more of these drives get out there, they will be more accepted. On commercial boats, they are getting into service easier as there is no stigma as to using what others have.

The rooster tail... you can turn that off by just trimming down. Sure, you won't have the top end, but, I don't think you will be pulling a tube or skier at 80. Well, maybe a skier, but, not behind an offshore boat. The Pulse makes it eiser to get on a plane at a lower speed, so it makes this kind of activity easier.

Out drives that don't break when you size them correctly? I guess if you limit a Bravo to say, 250 hp that mya be OK. Most have them on 400-600 hp. Least we forget what happens when the seals go on any stern drive and you don't realize it. All it takes a a little piece of fishing line...

Is you boat on the AT site? I would love to see some pics of it!

Mongo

h2owarrior 12-03-2002 08:14 AM

imongo, Sounds like you're a convert. I agree, the drive does have a lot of advantages. I am not an "early adopter" so I'll wait a few years before taking that plunge.

My boat is on the AT website. It's Thunder EnLightening.

MassiveThunder 12-03-2002 08:17 AM

A VERY NICE BOAT!!!!
