January Thunder Run Participants:

Hey guys....just thought I would catch you up to date on the plans. Previously we had thought we were staying at the Marriot, but I could not get them to guarantee the dock space for us....It is on a first come first serve basis. I figured for $259.00 a night it would be the least that they could do for us, but hey!

Anyway...the back up plan is to stay at Marina Del Mar which is a little south of there and is on the ocean side. Pat assured me it is not hard to get there. The rooms are only $99.00 per night and we have guaranteed slips at an additional $74.00 per night but that still is less than the Marriot. The rooms are either 2 doubles or 1 king. There seems to be some places to eat nearby....the Holiday Inn and the Ramada both share the marina with Marina Del Mar and they restaraunts and tiki bars too. Here is their website in case anyone wants to go check it out: http://www.marinadelmarkeylargo.com/

Hopefully everyone is agreeable with this. I am going to call the group sales person on Monday and I need to get a firm number of rooms. I have 8 slips reserved for us. That includes the following boats:

1. Thunder Enlightening
2. Thunderstorm
3. Radioactive
4. Attitude Adjustment
5. A.A's friend with Sonic
6. Sandsucker (Jon Testwuide)
7. Boat Freak
8. Monsoon

I just need to know how many rooms...this is what I have so far.

Kevin and Judy Ingall 1 room
Dan and Barb Lawler 1 Room
Jeff and Sandy Jassby 2 rooms
Bob and Shari Smallwood 1 room
Keith and Audrey Workman 1 room
Pat and Diane Haughey 1 room
Mike Case 1 room (2 doubles)
Cashbar (Greg?) 1 room (Still need your last name to put on the list)
Jon Testwuide 2 rooms
Todd and Stephanie W 1 room

I think that is it. If you are not planning on going please contact me via my e-mail. Otherwise, I am counting on 12 rooms. I will post on monday as to how we work out the payment etc.

Your friendly cruise director,
Tbikini

Tbikini,
If you get this in time I would take two rooms at the Del Mar with the lower rate. Sorry I'm not trying to make it hard on you.
Thanks and if you should need to talk to me my cell is 317-431-6856.

Cool

Tbikini, I sent Kevin an e-mail a few days back.

My last name is Harris and my girls' name is Amanda Quinlan. We still don't know if we will be in Fri. or Sat. morning. We are waiting to hear from John and Pat. A chance to go down by boat would certainly have me trying to get into town sooner.

I run a restaurant in Atlanta(hence CASH BAR) and it's hard to get out on Fri. but we might be able to make it. We are planning on meeting you all at the resort on Sat. as of now.

I will be in Pompano/Deerfield Dec. 24-26 and plan on going to AT on Wed. to see Mark's boat in person. Should definitely know more after that.

Thanks, Greg

Wink

Thanks everybody for getting back to me. I sent the contract back to the Marina Del Mar today. I will post the number where you should call to make your reservations soon. Just want to get some final details worked out.

Looks like it is going to be a fun run. So far I have 12 couples signed up to go and 7 boats. That number (of boats) may grow.

One more thing about the accommodations....the Marina Del Mar informed me that the room rate includes a complimentary continental breakfast and unlimited free passage on a Las Vegas style casino ship. Just what this group needs....another way to get wild

Alright everyone....here are the final details. We are all set to stay at the Marina Del Mar in Key Largo. They have a master list of everyone's names but you each need to call in individually with your credit card numbers to make your reservation.

Here is the number to call: 800-451-3483 Tell them you are with the Active Thunder group and they will give you the special $99.00 rate. We will take care of the dock charges when we get there, but we have 8 slips reserved as of now. (Remember, the slips are $74.00/night.)

This needs to be done by JANUARY 3rd!!!!!! (or we will lose the rooms.)

Depending on the weather, I guess we will be launching at Pompano (where we launched last time) or at Biscayne Bay down at Miami. I checked on reservations at the Sands Hotel again for Thursday night and they were available a week ago. The cost for those were $128.87 (tax included) for a King room plus the additional dock fee. As time nears, if you want, I will check on this for us too.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year. Don't forget to make your reservations.

Cruise Director Tbikini

I am curious when everyone will get into town and where you plan to stay. We pick up half our crew at 9:00 am on Wed. so I will be in town on Tuesday night. I would like to get a room for the nights before the run before long. I can smell salt water already.
