ThunderRun III - Destin
March will be here before we know it and that means it will be the start of Spring Break here in the Florida panhandle. With that in mind we need to start getting reservations made for the next run.
The biggest question is WHEN are we going to have this run? So get out your calendars and let us know what dates would work for you.. Please let us know how many people, how many rooms, etc... You know the drill! :D Thanks! |
I will not miss another run, I am in. 1 room, barb and myself, and the 15,22,or 29 of March works for me. Hopefully we can get this booked way in advance. Let me know if I need to help in anyway.
Dan |
March 28-30 will work best for Jeff and I. so far 1 room
thanks Shari and Bob for volunteering to coordinate. Sandy |
Laura and I plan on attending, any of the last three weekends in March work for us. Maybe we can persuade HyperActive to join us as well. Thanks, Steve
|
I wish we could go. Tracy's in school and I don't think it would be fair of me to go without her. If I still have the boat I'll probably just go down and pick it up for the summer.
I'm sure you guys will take lots of pics for us:D |
Sounds good to us frozen North people! Weekend of the 15th or 22nd would work out the best for us....work conflicts with weekend of the 29th. We'll keep checking back to start travel plans when definite date is set!!!!
|
Not sure that we are going yet, but the weekend of the 28th would work the best. I think the weekend before that is the Sarasota Poker Run or something like that. Got to get down to Florida sometime that month to get the boat so keep us posted.
Of course, we will be bringing the kids with us to get the boat, so there will be no "party animal" action like last time:p Tbikini |
Just wait till those kids meet "uncle Jeff":p :D
|
I'm sure they will think you are kewl... I do!:D
Little ATTADJ |
Luv ya man:cool: Corey, my back up driver;) :D
|
tbikini,
How old are your kids? |
Too young to run with this crowd:D They are 2 and 4!
Tbikini |
H2O
We have a 6month old and a 5 year old! How is the AT for overnighting with the kids? We think our 37 is going to be great with the kids. |
roughstuff,
I have a 7 year old son and a 5 year old daughter. My son rides co-pilot in the next seat and we overnight often with our kids. My daughter usually sits in the back with my wife and it is very comfortable. My wife and I sleep in the main area and the kids sleep in the v-berth, it is perfect.... tbikini, I hear ya, but never too young to run with the AT crowd.:D Are you thinking about bringing them on the run? How do they do on the boat? |
Tbikini, Don't show your daughter the picture of you with the pitcher of beer :D I see on the other thread that it is too late for the double margaritas! :D
Seriously though, your kids would be welcome on the run... I have always felt boating was a family thing. Your kids should meet and get to know the "Thunder Family" We will just keep an eye on them when they are around "Uncle Jeff" :D If you want we might be able to arrange a babysitter for an evening, you know just so you can get out and keep your party animal title :D I am sure Corey knows 1 or 2 teenage girls.... we could get to sit! All, Check out this link to the place we are thinking of staying. They have a marina on site. http://www.bayclubofsandestin.com/main.html Internet prices show $135. for a 1 bedroom condo and $195. for a 2 bedroom. Both also have pull out sofas. On Travelocity they also show an efficiency for $100. a night. I am going to contact them and see if they can do any better on the rates for a group These are much better rates than at the Hilton and they are closer to the boats. Here is the link to the marina http://www.sandestin.com/sandestin.asp?cat_id=15 The village at Baytown Wharf is new. It opened last summer. It is a very nice place with several bars, restaraunts, bars, shopping and did I mention bars? all within walking distance.... :p The web site shows the marina price at $1.75 a foot. I have sent the marina manager an email asking about group rates or discounts if we are staying at either the hotel or condos..... I am also checking availability for either the weekend of the 22nd or the 29th.... Stay Tuned! |
They both look great. Anything to get away from this cold weather. I would prefer to be close to the boat, so the first one sounds a bit more appealing to me, but hey what do I know. It really does not matter too much to me. Let me know if you need my help in any way. Say hello to Bob and Corey for me.
Dan |
We stayed at the first location but on the Gulf side, Beachside II, it was awesome, had a great time. Destin is awesome, great resturants, great atmosphere, everything is realativly close to the area, it will be a blast.
|
If Jeff has already stayed there maybe we need option 2, are you allowed to return????;)
|
Well, kind of, we did get caught on a dare, riding the elevator at 2am from our floor down to the next floor down and back up, did I forget to mention, naked. It was an awesome weekend:p :D
|
somehow I am not surprised.....
|
Well.....I guess that takes care of the kid question:eek:  :p ;) :D :D
|
It was an adult weekend:rolleyes:
|
You are all right Jeff. Somehow I am confident that your kids would be safe with us, we all have kids and I am sure we know how to act responsibly.;) :p
But then again that is what grandparents are for...:p :D :D |
Here We Go!
Sorry we have been out of touch for a couple days... we have had a sad week... had to have our oldest cat put to sleep on Monday... :( She was 15yrs old and her Kidney's were failing..
Anyway, on to happier things! Looks like the Sandestin Marina can best accomodate us the last weekend in March... so start making your travel plans!!! If we have 7 or more boats the slip rental fee is $1.50 per foot per night. If less then 7 then it is the normal rate of $1.75. When is everyone planning on coming into town and when do you plan to leave.. I need to know so I can talk to the hotel/condo people about rates. Are you planning on arriving Thursday... boating Friday, Saturday and Sunday and leaving on Monday... or some variation of this? Keep in mind that there is A LOT of boating to be done here... you could be here for weeks and not see it all!!! What am I saying, we've been here for a year and a half and not seen it all!!! :D As for the itinerary... the Sandestin is centrally located to the places we are thinking of for daily runs... We are planning on running to Panama City one day, run the ditch over and the gulf back!!! Pensacola Beach one day... and one day to Navarre and Juana's Pagoda.. Tiki Bar!!! :D with refreshment stops at the Smallwood's B&B :D So far we have: Bob, Corey and I - 1 room, 1 slip Dan and Barb 1 - room, 1 slip Jeff and Sandy - 1 room, 1 slip Steve and Laura - 1 room, 1 slip Dave and Sharon (we hope!) 1 room Kevin and Judy (hopefully!) - 1 room, 1 slip Keith and Audrey - 1 room, 1 slip And probably a few local friends who do not want to miss out on all the fun! :D So, who else wants to join??? There must be others out there who don't want to just read about all the fun we have on these runs!!! :D |
I want to join but can't :(:(
Sorry about your cat. We are near the same place on our 15 year old dog. :( |
We will probably arrive on Thursday, but we need to catch a flight out on Sunday PM.
|
Dan, the airport is about 30 min. away from where we will all be staying. It an awesome area, Sandy and I are looking at retirement there, someday....:D
Mrs. ATTADJ, count us in, wouldn't miss it, :) |
Maybe I could pick my boat up and Tracy could fly in on Fri. She would have to fly out on Sun. If she can't make it then I probably won't go. We'll see.
|
we are so sorry about your cat. we want a juanaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaacker!
|
Todd and Tracy,
That sounds like a plan. It would be great if you guys could make it. With the airport being close to where we are, sounds like it is perfect. Mrs Attadj, When do we need to start making our reservations? Is the name of the airport Destin??? JJ, Retierment, hmmmm. I have already resigned myself to the fact I will be working till I am 90 years old..... |
Todd, That's a great idea for you to pick up the boat & Tracey meet you. We all hope it works out.
ThunderDan, The Airport name is Valparaiso (VPS) How is your boat getting here? Horsplay, The Big Thirrrsty is coming right? I have to make sure the poles are in the water by then? Jeff, Are you guys going to the boat show next weekend, We were thinking about coming over for it? Give me a call. |
Bob,
Thanks, I want to make my reservation as soon as possible. I am not sure yet how my boat is going to get there. I am hoping that Pat can bring it, or I will have to find a hauler to go get it for me. Whatever, it will get there one way or another :D |
Dan. If you have it sent by a hauler you are welcome to keep it next to the house till you get here and then I could put in the water for you & take it out.
|
Thanks I appreciate it, and I will probably take you up on your offer. Have you ever been up my way? I am trying to estimate the amt of time it would take if I decieded to drive? I am in Southern new Jersey. I am in Delaware in 40 minutes.
|
Dan, I'm not for sure but I know it takes 5 hours to get to 95 in Jacksonville, Fl. Our friends with the 45 sonic pulled their boat from our house to Islip, Ny last year and I think it took them around 24 hours? I just looked up driving directions from our house to yours on Yahoo says 1111.6 miles and would take 17 hours & 6 minutes ( They are usually at least a hour to high). But pulling the boat it would be close, unless you pull her at 80 mph?
|
I pull the boat about 75 mph. I thought it was about that far. Looks like I will be flying. I am so swamped that time of the year at work that I can not afford to take the 3 days of travel(1.5 there, 1.5 back). So it looks like I will have to try and convince Pat(free beer) to bring her to Destin, then get a hauler to bring it back to Jersey. Thanks ATTADJ.

ThunderRun III - Emerald Coast Plans
Hi gang TGIF!
Hope you are all getting your plans made for your trip down to sunny Florida and the beautiful Emerald Coast. The slips are reserved at the Baytown Wharf marina. We currently have 10 slips on hold so if anyone else wants to join us, let me know soon! As for rooms, the Bay Club of San Destin that I had mentioned earlier does not have enough condo's for all of us. What they have available are 3 - 1 bedroom units and they are going for $150. per night. SanDestin Golf and Beach resort has the following: Hotel rooms at Baytown Village. Rooms are $190. per night. They also have 3 and 4 bedroom houses available. So, if anyone is interested in sharing an actual house, let me know. The prices are: 4 bedroom - $520 per night (split 4 ways would be $130. per couple per night) 3 bedroom - $375. per night ( $125. per couple to split) Is anyone interested in going together with others to split a house? Or does everyone just want to go to the Baytown Village hotel? Note, these units are all on the bay side nearest to the boats. I believe they also have some condo's and hotel rooms on the gulf side (you would have to take the tram over) but the lady I talked to said these would be much more expensive. If anyone is interested in the gulf side let me know and I will get more info on rates... That's it for now! Have a great weekend! We will be celebrating ATTADJ's birthday!!! :D |
Have a great b-day attadj. And It does not matter to me, I will split a house with people. Great job. When do we need to book the rooms?
|
Hey guys... Unless everyone wants to sleep on their boats then we probably need to make reservations SOON... :D
Does anyone want to go together on a house or do you just want to get a hotel room (see prices above) So far: People willing to share a house: Bob and Shari Keith and Audrey Alan and Shanna Dan and Barb Still need to hear from: Jeff and Sandy Steve and Laura Kevin and Judy Anyone else who is thinking about going but has not committed yet! :D Let us know as soon as you can. Shari |
Do you have to have a Thunder, or can I can bring a fast boat?
Just kidding! Bote Loco |
