Miami Boat Show, Active Thunder Owners
#42
Originally, when Todd commissioned his new 37AT, it was going to be called "Cactus Cooler"; with a yellow and green livery. I've seen the rendering. Perhaps Pat can pull it out of his books/files.
But there was a trend of 'weather' named ATs in that time frame; so Monsoon was decided on vs. Cactus Cooler, in an effort to not limit resale.
Todd and Stephanie owned Monsoon for about 18 months or so, mostly ran at Lake Havasu, as they live in Phoenix I actually saw Monsoon when new at the Miami Boat show; not knowing that I'd come to own her less than 2 years later; and kept her for 13 seasons. Todd and family got a smaller boat which better suited them for kids and skiing/tubing there at Havasu. I flew out to Havasu and ran the Desert Storm Poker Run with Kevin, Nort, and Jeffrey; and a leg of the weekend was on Monsoon as my sea trial. A week later, she was headed east.
Todd and his best friend brought Monsoon from Havasu to LOTO. BobbyB and I left VA, and headed for MO. On the way, we picked up a 33' Eliminator cat from Kentucky, and brought it to Havasu. Todd's best friend purchased the 33' Eliminator sight unseen. We all spent the weekend at LOTO drinking beer and boating, before we headed back west and east with swapped boats. It could not have worked ANY better. That was the weekend before Memorial Day.
