Active Thunder's 33 AVH Poker Run

We have popped the first 33 AVH Poker Run boat out of the mold yesterday and we are begining to set and bond the deck to the hull. I am real excited about this new edition to our 2004 model line up and it is going to be a screamer. Check it out.....

Active Thunder 33 AVH Poker Run Edition

Tantrum 07-16-2003 09:48 AM

I will own one of these boats in the near future.
Cant wait to see it complete.

Sydwayz 07-16-2003 10:02 AM

Is that Adam's boat?

Also, can we see more pics of Mike Case's 28 Savage? That paint looks amazing!!

Shane 07-16-2003 10:10 AM

Dan,

That boat looks SWEET and the website has sure improved alot! One thing though I did notice. The word "develop" is spelled incorrectly on either the page for the 37 or 33. I cannot remember which. Best wishes with the new design. I am sure it will be KILLER!

thunderdan 07-16-2003 10:19 AM

Chris,
Hopefully in the very near future.lol

Brian,

That is adam's boat. I am real excited about it. I can see if we have any other pictures of Mike's boat, but I think that is all we have.

Shane,

Thanks for the spell check, I can not believe I missed that one.

We will be posting update pictures of this boat as it is being built.

BARCOASTAL 07-16-2003 11:32 AM

dan,

what's the plan for the power on that 33'..?

Sydwayz 07-16-2003 11:54 AM

525 EFI right? I think that is what Adam told me. Maybe even ITS-XRs. Boat will be in Northern VA when finished. Thunder32 here on OSO is the proud expectant papa.

thunderdan 07-16-2003 11:56 AM

It is undetermined yet. Our customer was talking about going to custom power verses Merc. ;)

Luvoffshore 07-16-2003 11:58 AM

What a site! Nobody else shows the current customer's boat being built in pics that I know of. Correct me if wrong, but AC sure is pushy about their boats. You should be ashamed of yourself baiting the public with pics like this! It just forces people to lay awake at night and dream of this stuff! BLAH BLAH BLAH!!

BARCOASTAL 07-16-2003 12:00 PM

very interesting!!! i am very curious to see the finished product, and hopefully tantrum will order one as well , so i can go out and beat on it w/ him!

Sydwayz 07-16-2003 12:02 PM

Custom = SWEEEEEET!!! Too bad with all the turmoil with KEPP.

Adam, how about a couple of Pro Charged 540s built here in VA? Aggressor 25 (Ty) is having his done up this way.

Tantrum 07-16-2003 01:12 PM

Barcoastal; :D If it werent an AT Id have to tell you to stay away because Im sure we would have it broke in no time. AT is the first mfg that can build a product I can drive the way I want

I need to keep on track and stay away from Pompano for alittle while. Wouldnt want to do anything spontaneous.....:p

As an owner of a 25 (Tantrum) Im a strong proponent of Active Thunder and cant wait to buy another.

boatfreak 07-16-2003 02:00 PM

Sydwayz, Thanks for the compliments on my boat. I have been very happy with it and with a little luck I will move up to a 37 Thunder someday. As for pics of my boat I know I have a few in this thing but for me to get them out is another matter. There are some good shots from the January Thunder Run that we had. I will see what I can find or maybe Jassman has some and can help me out.

Sydwayz 07-16-2003 03:20 PM

BF28... where in Indiana are you? I grew up in NW Indiana, down the street from Payton here on OSO.

boatfreak 07-16-2003 03:33 PM

Sydwayz, I am 30 miles south of Indy. I have been out with Mark a few times up on the lake and he joined us in Florida back in January for a day on that big lake they have but due to a drive problem the day was a bust.

Payton 07-16-2003 04:50 PM

hey guys, here is a pic from Sunday morning after the ThundRun up here.

H2Xmark 07-16-2003 07:26 PM

thanks for the pics guys, I would love to own a 33 a sweet machine, we have a couple of Active thunders in Beaumont, one is a older 32, with 525sc's in it, a nice boat, and the other is Thunder Roys 2000 37 he sold to a local in Bmt, the new owner still owes me a ride in it, I just might have to move up soon

Thunder32 07-16-2003 07:30 PM

Dan-

It's pretty sad that I have to go to OSO to see pics of my new boat. I thought you were going to send me some pics. Oh well, no big thing.
The power for the new 33AVH is undetermined for now. It was initially set up for 496HO's, but I really want some non merc power. (Chief engines or something) in the 500-550HP range. Any suggestions out there?? (reasonable of course- Pat is sucking me dry...)
It will have the Leathertech cabin, A/C, side by side electric bolsters, and some other goodies.
The paint job was going to be the thunder cloud look, but after showing Frank at All Pro the paint job I was looking at, he painted it on his 37AVH. So, I am back to square one on that one. Someone always out there to steal an idea. Any suggestions on the paint??
I'll hope to be down in FL in a couple of weeks to see her in person and go over some finer details.
Please email me if you have suggestions on reasonable engine builders and a paint scheme.

Thanks-
Adam

thunderdan 07-17-2003 07:24 AM

Adam,

We have worked out some pricing with Sterling on thier motor packages. I apologize if you did not get my e-mail that I sent to you yesterday morning that had the link to the pictures.

Thunder32 07-17-2003 10:29 AM

Dan-
it's no big deal about the pics. Just prodding a little.

I know Jassman or someone out there can give me some reasonable engine builders in the FL or surrounding area from the AT plant.
Any suggestions out there for a paint scheme???

Sydwayz 07-17-2003 10:55 AM

Adam, I wish I could help you on the paint, but I am not the best with designing things like that. I know you want radical. However, with having to deal with Potomac River scum, (the algae and the people, i.e. Craig223), what about plain white and go with Vinyl Graphics? I am just as anal about fenders and being careful around the docks, but you know the Potomac has some crappy facilities. With that comes inadvertant paint dings, and when you have radical paint, that means big uglies, and big money to fix. Put some splashes and piping colors in the interior the way you want it and then create what you want on the fly whenever you want with vinyl.

(Just kidding Craig!!!!!)

Thunder32 07-17-2003 12:07 PM

Brian-

NO VINYL GRAGHICS!! come on now......

no seriously, the paint will be clearcoated on the hull sides and topdeck. Just looking for some ideas from fellow OSOers

OK, Have two thoughts...
I have always liked Chameleon Paint. And I hate the transom looking filthy from exhaust soot.

How about some radical Chameleon Paint canvasing parts of the sides and deck, with an all black transom matching the outdrives providing a very stealthy look from the back as you pass me.

I would LOVE to have an effect like this on my boat.
Check this paint out:

Tantrum 07-17-2003 02:58 PM

That would be my new favorite boat if you were able to go with the 750's.
Im still looking forward to seeing it with any power.
Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Sydwayz 07-17-2003 03:27 PM

525s would have to get it to 95 mph.
675s would definately hit 105-110 mph.
750s... 115 maybe all tweaked out on boxes? 120? Could it be?

thunderdan 07-17-2003 07:04 PM

Adam,

you started at 500-525 hp and now you are up to 750, man oh man.....;) :D :D

I can not wait to see where you wind up with your paint scheme...:p :D :D

Thunder32 07-17-2003 08:32 PM

Dan-
I'm still looking in the 500-525 range, these guys on OSO are up to 750's. I just hope they help me on my boat payments.....

thunderdan 07-18-2003 07:01 AM

:D :D

525's will get you in the 90 + mph range. ;)

Shane 07-18-2003 07:06 AM

Thunderdan,

When going over 600HP do you guys recommend #6's simply for longevity and strength? I realize the excessive cost, and I DO MEAN EXCESSIVE for #6's, but I would just be concerned with breaking Bravo's. Am I speaking of which I do not know? Just curious and keep posting pics as this BEAUTY comes to life!:D

Thunder32;
Whatever power you go with you got one hell of a boat being built. I cant wait to see it.

SLINGSHOT 07-18-2003 08:11 AM

has active ever used 6's?

thunderdan 07-18-2003 10:52 AM

Shane,

I think that once you start to get into the big hp on the larger boats speedmaster drives are the way to go. That is not to say that you can not make a bravo or an Imco last. I would just think that for reliability that speedmaster drives with tranny's are the way to go.

I would also like to see one of these boats with some custom power go out with some pulse drives to see how the boat performs. Harry Schoell bottom, harry Shoell drives, hmmmmm..

Slingshot,

Yes, we have done number 6 drives before and we will be doing another one in the near future.;) :)

ToddW 07-18-2003 12:44 PM

How do you think a 33AVH would run with 496HOs and Pulse Drives?

Thunder32 07-18-2003 03:28 PM

Dan-
Not really interested in the Merc 525's. I think their is still too many bugs for Merc to fix and correct. The 500EFI's went through the same process when they were introduced.
Can't you see I'm a fan of Mercruiser??
I emailed a guy on OSO about some 500EFI's he was selling, but I haven't got a response yet. I have someone that can go through the motors, and check all that digital stuff.
I am still going to proceed with looking for custom power for the 33AVH if I get Pat's blessing on the issues we walked about earlier. (I'm still waiting for a response from you and Pat on that...hint..hint..Chief engines.....remember??)
On, and by the way....did you not tell me that you had a pair of 525's at the AT plant that you were raffling away at $5.00 a ticket??? Catch you later.... Adam
