Thumbs down Thunder Dan was robbed

Just have to vent here.
I got my new issue of Power Boat last night and was very disappointed to see that there was no coverage of Thunderstorm in the issue.
Back in June my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of running the NJPPC Atlantic City Poker Run as guests of Dan and Barb. This event was covered by PB and I would have bet money that Dan was a shoe in for some article coverage.
Thunderstorm was definitely one of the top hottest boats there (this is no small feet at this event, the hardware is unreal)
We got good coverage from the Helicopter on several occasions during the run as well as coverage at the dock and during the dinner.
Ok maybe Dan and I are a little schleppy but thats why we have Barb and Christine, to carry us and make a great looking crew.
Then Dan and Barb end up with the second place Poker hand. (more pictures)
Now for what I was sure was the money shot......
A helicopter shot of "Thunderstorm" running flawlessly at well over 80mph in a downpour so heavy the helicopter had to land immediately afterwords. This could have made an awesome shot, Dan driving and me (holding on) with bright yellow color matched helmets.
I still want to see that picture....
IMO Power Boat Mag missed THE boat (pun intended) on this one.

When it comes to Powerboat Poker Run Series, it's all about the money!! Nobody rides for free. The sponsors and dealers pay somewhere down the line for shots of their boats.
I talked to Bret at PB Mag. about our poker run in VA and he would not talk to me unless I had $10K to give him for some play, and $2K for ads in the mag.
Like I said it's all about the money now. Damn shame.
Some of us normal guys looking for some pics, and I'm sure their were alot of nice boats at the NJ run.
Next time wave $100 bills at the photographer, and MAYBE you'll get your pic in the magazine.
Later- Adam

I can not believe we did not make it in the magazine. I thought for sure we would make it, the helicopter shots at 80, the picture after the run all windblown on the end of the boat and then at the party all prettied up. Well OK, maybe Christine and Barb were prettied up.

What a disapointment. Maybe the running pics did not come out becuase we were going too fast.

Me too, it was a perfect day for the boat, there were several Thunderstorms that we ran through, it would have made for a great picture with the name of the boat on the deck and the helicopter taking pictures overhead.

Oh well, maybe we just do not advertise enough in Powerboat to make it. LOL
