need prop advise 25 tantrum
 

I recently bought a 1996 25 tantrum. The boat has a 502mpi bravo one with a 3 blade cupped 25 pitch mercury marage plus stainless steel prop. I'm running in the low 60's speedo not gps at 4600 rpm. I was wondering what props everyone is running. I think the boat should run in the upper 60"s and closer to 5000 rpm.Also I was can any one tell me what kind of bulbs go in the cuddy for the lights in the front. All mine were removed for some unknown reason.

I never tried a three blade to compare max speed but Im currently running a Bravo I prop.
My boat handles very well with this prop.
As far as speeds I think your best bet is to talk to Pat and try to figure out how your boat was built, ie pleasure/F1 ect. Ive found quite a spread in the max speed (or what I was told) on the 25 depending on set-up.

Chad , I have a 1996 25 Thunder .It runs 68 at 5000 on the speedo depending on the water conditions. It also has the Mirage Plus 3 blade 23P. Mined uses the 64415 12v-10w Halogen bulbs from OSRAM. OSRAM is Sylvania in Germany . I called the 1-800 for Sylvania and they gave me Bulbtronic 1-800-654-8542 ext.469. Ordered the bulbs and they were sent right to me. Hope this will help you out.

Hi Tantrum, What speed and RPM are you getting from your 4 blade?

Running between 73 and 76 @ 5100 w/ a 26p Bravo I
The motor is a mildly worked 502mag.

Before the motor work I was on a 23p 4 Blade Hydromotive at 5100. Didnt have a GPS but I would guess high 60's

i was spinning a 28 4 blade bravo 1 on my 25 at 5300
with a 500 hp at 75 mph on a gps. is your prop labbed fnished if not that will bring up your rs 200 to 400 and pick up your speed. $300 at mercury racing.

I think you had Thunder Dans old 25.
Keep in mind that boat was built as an F1 (Smith bros.)boat and ran an extension box. It has taken mine ('98) 550hp/565toruque to get the same results (mph) as you. Your old boat and Gordo's boat have left me baffled trying to set up mine.

???? Was a '96 under Pats watchful eye or was that the previous owner?

hey tantrum whatever you do dont try a extension box it makes it go slower and porposes all the time, to short of boat and to much rocker.
