I just had a 22 AVH banshee built and it tops out at 74mph on GPS. The engine is a 350 mag mpi worked to 400hp (i just had it dynoed last week), Ive had the hull blueprinted and it has a pulse drive. For a small boat (only weighs 2400 lb) with 400hp and a pulse drive I am dissapointed with the top speed. I have owned and seen many standard V's that weigh 1000-1500 lbs more with the same power that perform top end just as well.

Does anyone else think I should be going faster?

It all depends what you were told, if that is all the case. Safety should be your first priority, and hitting those speeds in that size boat, I think is pretty good, you have more balls then me

It started out with an Alpha and 300hp from a stock 350mag Mpi. We were only able to get 69 gps. Now with 100hp more and the pulse drive 74 gps. I was under the impression that a surface drive alone should give you 5. Let alone the extra 100hp.

Newer, more radical cams, new heads and valves and lifters and a lot of "rubbing".

How do you know you have an additional 100 hp. Was the motor actually dynoed.

most definately, it dynoed at 396hp 415lb torque with a new redline of 5500rpm. If you want, I can hook you up with my guys to do your motor.

Thanks Eatonn, but I just had Total Marine build me some 600CI motors for my boat. Good luck with your project, dialing it in can be real fun
