Active Thunder 28 Savage with 525efi
Is the owner of this boat on the board? If so, can you give us/me an update on the boat. How is it performing?
|
John Brandli just got his boat back Friday from All Pro Marine.
They had issues with the transom sooting "really" bad all last year. It was determined by Mercury that the vents AT installed were not sufficient for the 525EFI (air requirement into engine compartment). All Pro Marine added (2) additional vents, and installed a gasket on the transom under the sunpad. Their was a gap of an inch or so, and it was thought that exhaust was coming back into the engine compartment. The boat ran approx. 73GPS last year, and John had it out and he picked up a couple MPH to 75GPS with minimal sooting on the transom and sunpad area. (by the way, he does have a aluminum swim platform) The air is still pretty cool up here in VA, so the summer will tell if this fixed the problem. John is fortunate that he has a dealer to work with to correct these problems, or he would still be in the dark so to say. |
I'm glad he's getting it worked out. Is John on the board? Do you know how I can get a hold of him?

Unfortunately we have had the same problems with or without the additional air vents installed with the 525EFIs. In twin engine set-ups we've had one or the other engine running rich and making a black transom just on one side. Wait until it get's a little warmer both the air and water temperature and then let's assess the situation.
I still say the computer system on the older 525s had a glitch. You can say if it wasn't for the dealer we would have ignored the situation which is total crap. |
And I should add that we never had this problem with the 500EFIs. hmmmm.

Don't _uck up a good thing, the 500hp is a proven engine, dont try and rewrite the book, go off a tried motor.

Just stating the facts, good or bad.
If it wasn't for the selling dealer, he would still be at square one, so to say. That is why most boats are sold through dealers, so they can take care of warranty issues, as they should. They make the most profit on the sale. I know for a fact that John has left several messages on your answering machine (AT) with no return call about some of these issues. John actually contacted Mercury directly and spoke with a tech about the air requirements needed for the 525EFI into the engine compartment, and the vents installed in his boat we not sufficient according to Mercury, so additional vents were installed. Changing the subject, Todd, John's cell # 706-593-0301 I believe he may want to sell the boat, but check with him. Later- Adam |
Thanks Adam.

Just guessing. But I bet that area code is 703, not 706 for his cell.

it is #703-593-0301 thanks Brian |
