AO/Awesome with 4s/5s on boxes

Anyone with a 31 AO, Awesome or Chris Cat with 4s or 5s on merc boxes care to share some info?

Expo 08-25-2010 05:09 PM

Mine had #5s but with stelling boxes if that helps I will tell you what i know

tssteph 08-26-2010 07:45 AM

Expo, where was the prop shaft relative to the bottom? What kind of speeds/power were you running? How far forward were the motors? Drive lines or plug ins?

Expo 08-31-2010 06:09 PM

prop shaft 2.5 in above bottom, 750 natural and ran 127. Driveline. motors about 6 in back from bulkhead

tssteph 09-01-2010 07:34 AM

Do you happen to remember the prop diameter? gear ratio?

Looking good B!

tssteph 11-05-2010 01:53 PM

Thanks, its gone about as easy as it could have and things lined up well with all the parts. Motor mounts are in and I am working on painting the engine area now. No more grey crappy paint. Filled about 200 screw holes from all the old rigging. Other than getting the driveshafts that I have cut down I have just about everything.

bobkatz 11-05-2010 08:53 PM

HIGH ROLLER!!! Looking forward to prop testing, are you still trying to make it to the water before the first of the year.:party-smiley-004:

It has been fun so far. Is it just me or does the angle on the extension box look different than the transom, Ah don't worry about it it will be fine!!!

chromecat 11-05-2010 11:14 PM

impressive... looks like a new contender entering the ring...

You must be looking at the wrong boat in the wrong garage.....
Isn't it hard to tell with your boxes laying on the floor.

tman 11-06-2010 09:33 AM

AO31 11-24-2010 09:48 PM

Oh man! That looks awesome! Nice to see a project moving along in this forum. Gonna be a little tighter for frontal motor maintenance but I'm sure you'll cope.

not a very good pic but all the wiring and plumbing is back in the boat and cleaned up some. Eliminated a bunch of wiring that was not needed. Sea strainers are in. The hold up on prop testing is the flywheels at the machine shop having the ring gears moved. I had hoped to do some shake down runs before the snow hits.

greencard 12-04-2010 11:22 AM

:bsflag: the snow hit this morning...you better step up the pace. Looks good.

tssteph 12-04-2010 12:02 PM

I have the flywheels back. Just left lake cumberland marine with some prop options. Get your boggin ready in a couple weeks.

All done except for filling the drives and putting the hatch back on.

tman 01-04-2011 02:17 PM

Looks nice. eastside is finished.

bobkatz 01-04-2011 08:06 PM

Looks great!!! And done in record time...

CNC 01-05-2011 02:38 PM

Looks great...What did you get for props?
Just raised my boxes 1" (bottom hole) should put me 2.75 from the bottom (CL). Motors are out and going back on the dyno, Ben wasn't happy with the numbers and weird a/f ratios.

NICE.....hopefully it runs as well as it looks. Now you have a couple months left to shop for those HERRINGS!!!! TMAN are your cables fixed yet??? GUESS I better get started and motivate the other westside hack. By the way I seem to have lost my drive lock key......last remember seeing it in Memphis about 5 yrs ago:eek:
