97 A/O 26' Mild 454 Procharged 7#'s boost, 32" bravo1, 1.50 XR, 5400 rpm, 102 mph in 105 deg. heat. Fast enough for me!:) |
Re: How fast is your 26 AO?
do you have the 415 HP magnum engine? Do you have 1.36 gears?
if so with 7 lbs boost expect 85 to 90 mph with a 28 pitch prop. what speed are you currently running?. my guess is 72 to 75 mph. A cam change always helps HP. I suggest changing to Hydraulic roller lifters and using the HP525 cam. you can get everything you need from Teague.:) :chick: |

The NSX we built for a demo has a lingenfelter 540 with quad rotor-whipples through an intercooler. I run 12 psi boost on 92 octane gasoline. B max outdrive with 1.19 gears. run 30 pitch bravo lab prop. use dominator 1050 CFM carbs. can easily run 120mph at 6000 rpm with 40 gallons of fuel on any day less than 75 F. Rev limiter set at 6000.

Hey. Glad to see that you guys are keeping this thread alive.
My A/O 2600 ran 121MPH a few weeks ago on the first full pass with boost. It was still pulling when I pulled the throttle back and I had already trimmed it in a tad, so I'm sure it will run at least a few MPH faster when its dialed in. The motor is a Scott Shafiroff built Dart 540, with AFR 345 heads ported by Jim V and a relatively big Comp solid roller, exhaust is Stainless GENIII dry exhaust, M-3 Procharger @ 10lbs of boost (w/belt slipping). This thing accelerates in the upper rpm range like a fart in a hurricane!! The drive is a stock XR upper with an Imco Extreme 2" Shortie lower w/ 1.34 gears and the prop was a bone stock 32 Bravo 1. I'm gonna try to get it to run 130, if the drive holds up that long!! |
i have an nxs with a 500efi and a top mount whipple 7lbs of boost 28 degrees total advance. drive is a xr upper with imco lower standard height 1.34 gear. prop shaft is about 1/2 below center sponson.
2 people in the boat lesss than 1/2 take of fuel 103 gps prop is labbed to a true 30 pitch 15 1/4. i figure the motor is at least 750 hp. tried a shortie drive handled fine but way to much slip. ice chest, full of fuel, 6 people 94 gps. would love to see 110gps any suggestions maybe to much dia. in the prop boat was alot faster before i started using a gps. |
Chad:
What kind of prop are you running? Also, your boat must have a high X-dimension from the factory, or was modified. My boat has the propshaft centerline about 1/2 to 3/4 inch below the pad WITH the 2" shortie. Have you tried a five blade on it? Or more pitch? Also, what RPMs are you turning? If you have the stock rev limit (5250 rpm) you're doing damn good because you're only getting 7 % slip, which is very good. |
sounds like our drive height is the same. prop is a throttle up labbed bravo 1 4 blade 30 pitch. rev limiter is at 5600. i can get the boat to about 5500 on a good day
best speed ever 103 always 98 99 these are gps speeds my boat ran 110 before i took out the speedo and put the gps map. that thing must be heavy. lol do 5 blades work on the ao. |
my prop slip is 12%
5500 1.34 103mph gps no fuel, no beer, no chicken, 2 people and a tail wind |
Are any of you guys running outboards on your AO's. I have a 1997 26 ft NSX with Twin 300x's and I am only seeing about 90 mph on a GPS. The motors are not modified, and I am only running 92 octane pump gas in the boat. I can hit 90 with full tanks and 4 people in the boat, but I have been talking to my setup guy about trying to hit 95 or 100 with the boat. He has recommended going to set of cleavers from the choppers I am currenlty running, I tried a 3 blade and got about 91 out of it, the boat will really needs bigger 4 blades to get it out of the water and mantain the speed.
Any suggestions? |
