Handling sucks in step bottom boat. I saw a Bayliner with steps. How dumb is that? If steps are what you want, then step-up to the plate, pony-up the cash, call the Apache Factory and have the only one around. If not, go look at other builders that use steps and the accident reports at high speeds with steps. Steps are not the answer.

Besides modern lamination techniques can make up for steps.

Yes they are. But you pressed the button for the Apache Forum. The Chief Forum is a few buttons down.

Chief also doesn't appear to be any shorter at the transom and actually looks to have alot of hook in the bottom.
